We have a display case we don't always have a display for, and are considering opening it up for interested parties to use, rather than leaving it empty. We've let a few groups use it in the past, but that's few and far between, we want to get word out that it's an option. I'll need some rules/guidelines on what we will accept, set up and removal, duration of display, etc. If anyone has a display case that is at times available for public displays, and you have a policy, I'd love to see it. Come to the Main Branch (across Woodward Ave. from the DIA in Detroit) between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 19. Bring plants that you don't need, and take others that are offered. You are not required to bring plants in order to take plants. People bring and take both outdoor plants and indoor plants. We will have a Master Gardener from MSU Extension to answer questions and give advice. Plus refreshments. Hello all, The St. Clair County Library System has a full-time Reference Librarian position now open in our Library for Assistive Media and Talking Books (LAMTB). If you’re passionate about public service and accessibility, this role would be right up your alley. LAMTB acts as an Advisory and Outreach Center (AOC) for the Braille and Talking Book Library (BTBL)<https://www.michigan.gov/leo/bureaus-agencies/bureau-of-services-for-blind-…> and helps to serve four counties in the Thumb area. In addition, LAMTB staff oversee the home delivery services that SCCLS offers our local patrons. LAMTB staff are stationed at our system’s Main Branch in Port Huron. Upcoming Event at BPL: Oakland County Modern

Hello Michlib! Please join us at 7:00 PM, Monday, September 14th for Josh Lipnik's presentation Oakland County Modern. Midwest Modern photographer Josh Lipnik returns to BPL with Oakland County Modern. During this visit Josh explores the architecture and planning in Oakland County during its rapid growth after World War II, as an exceptional example of the historic and cultural forces that shaped suburbs across the country. This talk looks at buildings by famous architects such as Minoru Yamasaki, Frank Lloyd Wright, and Eero Saarinen, as well as the many talented local architects that have been overlooked by history. Josh Lipnik is a Detroit-based architectural photographer, speaker, and writer who runs the social media account Midwest Modern, where he documents the architecture and built environment of Michigan and the greater Midwest. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan Taubman College of Architecture and his work has been featured in outlets including Chicago Reader, Belt Magazine, and the Financial Times.
