*The Suttons Bay Bingham District Library is now seeking a part-time Circulation Clerk* The main job responsibilities are in providing excellent circulation services to all library patrons. We are looking for an applicant with excellent customer service skills, excellent attention to detail, great communication skills and the ability to maintain workplace confidentiality. As well as working well with the public, the applicant must maintain positive working relationships with library staff and volunteers. The position is 12 hours per week. Typical shifts are 10am-2pm weekdays and two Saturdays per month, year round. The starting rate of pay is $17.00 per hour, with paid time off earned for hours worked, and an optional 457 retirement savings plan available. Hi all, I'm wondering how many of your friends group have a facebook or other social media presence. Our Friends have decided that social media will be the answer to their perceived downturn in bookstore purchasing. I have strong concerns about this including, but not limited to... 1. Lack of public understanding that the 'friends' page is NOT the 'library page.' 2. A 'volunteer' who will be representing the library via social media account that is potentially confused with the library account. 3. An account which encourages donations to be dropped off ALL. THE. TIME. 4. I'm sure there is something else to worry about here... Just looking to see what other library friend groups are doing in this regard. The Cass District Library (CDL) is seeking a Community Services Library/Associate. This position creates, implements, and presents branch and community programs for all ages. The Community Services Librarian/Associate also assists at the check-out desk, maintains the youth collection, provides technology assistance, readers’ advisory services, interprets the Library’s policies and procedures, and serves as the designated staff member in-charge at times. Responsibilities: *Plans and conducts programs for youth, including weekly Storytime, to encourage engagement with Library resources in order to create tomorrow’s readers today. * Serves the community and Edwardsburg Public Schools through public programming, classroom visits, and other public services. * Conducts reference and readers’ advisory services in person, by telephone, and by e-mail, using materials in a variety of formats. * Performs duties with a variety of hardware and software functions, and compiles statistics when needed. * Assists customers with various technologies such as cell phones, computers, and tablets. * Assists patrons with resumes, job searches, internet use, and basic word processing. * Maintains all multi-format collections. * Interprets the Library’s policies and procedures to the public in a customer friendly manner. * Supervises the operation of the location in the absence of the Branch Manager and may direct the work of staff when designated. Hello, We've noticed a growing interest among our patrons in Mahjong classes and are currently looking for an instructor to teach a program. I was wondering if you would be willing to share the contact information for the instructor you've worked with. I've reached out to several Mahjong instructors already, but so far I haven't had much luck finding someone available or interested in teaching a class.
