Developing Positive Relationships at Work<https://mcls.corsizio.com/event/6aa0653ff568a86de584cb7f> Dickinson County Library, Iron Mountain, MI Monday, Oct. 12, 2026, 9 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Central (local) time We spend a large amount of time with our co-workers, and having constructive, positive relationships with those we work with benefits everyone. Tying in aspects of accountability and wellbeing, this interactive session will help participants develop relationships with co-workers that are supportive, constructive, encouraging, and free from negative drama or conflict. As a result, employees will have the tools to create a more harmonious work environment, be able to work through disagreements, find more team solidarity, and ultimately have more job satisfaction and better wellbeing. Dickinson County Library is bringing MCLS to Iron Mountain for part of their staff day and would like to open up the experience to other library staff. In our current society, everyday interactions can feel charged and volatile, and library staff too often feel unprepared and worried. The key to handling these situations is not to avoid them or hope they never happen, but to find methods of meeting each moment without losing resolve. In this practical and engaging hands-on workshop, library staff will learn techniques to be their best selves when nerve-wracking situations occur with patrons or coworkers and be better equipped to calmly handle daily upsets and find greater satisfaction in their work lives. We’ll discuss techniques for staying cool, calm, and empathetic and participants will have time to prepare and practice their responses to true-to-life scenarios. TWO sessions to choose from! Digital Image Programs Available for Public Libraries & Community Groups - 2026-2027

Hi everyone - I hope you are well. I am just writing to share booking information for my library digital image programs that are for public libraries, community groups and other related organizations. I can present these sessions both in-person or virtually for libraries and cultural/community organizations in Michigan and elsewhere. I offer these at no charge to libraries. Since I am in the Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti area, I can present in person at your library or facility if it is relatively close (45 minutes) from my home. For in-person programs further away, I will ask for mileage only (I am using half the Federal rate of 76 cents per mile). There is no charge for virtual programs. We will look at some of the instances where it might not be able to do what you might want. A local spot for photography is fantastic because you can capture at different times of the day or during different seasons. This presentation shares the history of the postcard in the United States and beyond, while looking at many examples of the different types that were available to send. Re: Friends Book Sale Question

Our Novi Library book store is also getting fewer quality used books. We believe that electronic readers have had an impact. Even our older customer's are using them. We still have many who like to hold a book. They buy books and return them for us to sell again. We don't have a big sale but have seasonal sales in our used book store. Donations can be dropped off anytime and large donations are accepted by our facilities staff. Road construction did have an impact a couple years ago.
