FYI: In preparation for the Oct 1 changes to provisions of the Youth Employment Standards Act, LEO (Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity) has unveiled a NEW Website for Youth Employment: LEO - Youth Employment<https://www.michigan.gov/leo/initiatives/youth-employment?utm_medium=email&…> The Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity is preparing to launch the new Youth Employment Permit Portal, a centralized online system that will modernize the state’s youth employment permit process and make it more convenient and accessible for minors, families and employers. Local school districts and nonpublic schools will no longer issue youth employment permits. Beginning Oct. 2, employers and minors will use the new portal to complete the youth employment permit process through one statewide system. Friends Book Sale Question

Hello Fellow Librarians, Just a question, because I am curious... Our Friends of the Library Retale Market (used book sale) has seen a decrease in sales this year over last year. We have been doing a lot of construction projects, so we just assumed it was due to that. However, I am just wondering if other libraries have been experiencing the same. Maybe it has more to do with the economy (rising gas prices, groceries, etc.) and consumer cuts to discretionary spending. Have your Friends been experiencing similar trends? New Romance Book Club

Hello colleagues and friends! Sterling Heights Public Library is starting a new Romance Book Club. We'd love you to share the information with interested patrons! 💌📚 Each month we will be discussing a different romance author or subgenre. Meetings will be held offsite at Haru Cafe (a manga cafe) located at 11445 15 Mile Road in Sterling Heights near the corner of 15 Mile and Dodge Park roads. Offering BTBL as a supplement to the audiobooks you already provide can open up hundreds of thousands of additional reading opportunities for your patrons in accessible formats.
