CSLP has created a survey so they can better assess the usefulness of the materials offered by the program on a national level to better serve you, the CSLP membership! All public libraries in Michigan are CSLP members thanks to the Library of Michigan with support from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. The audience for the survey is public library staff who played an active role in administering or running 2026 summer library programming. One person per library could fill it out, or multiple library staff from the same library could complete the sections of the survey most relevant to their work, e.g. children, teen, or adult programs. * Please coordinate with your colleagues on who will fill it out, especially if you are in a multi-branch system. * This does NOT need to be filled out by Directors. (Adult/YA/Children program overseers can complete their own portions.) * EVEN IF YOU DID NOT USE "UNEARTH A STORY" AS YOUR THEME, we invite you to complete the survey! Is this survey required? No, it is not required, but we would appreciate your input. Every library that responds helps us get a more accurate picture of overall satisfaction with the program. I want to be prepared. What info will I need to provide? * General feedback on using (or not) the 2026 program theme and materials; * Feedback and info about how/whether you tracked participation, as well as stats for participation and programming for children (ages 0-11), teens (12-18) and adults. Putting Leveled labels on Easy Reader books

We (Leighton Township Library) are considering adding leveled labels to our Easy Reader books. We currently shelve them by author with an Easy Reader sticker but no level number. If your library uses the leveled numbers we would like your input. 1. Do you base the reading level number on Publisher suggestion, Lexile number, Accelerated Reader, other, or a mix of these? 2. Northland Library Cooperative News

The Northland Library Cooperative is honored to commemorate the retirement of current Director Linda Adams and celebrate hiring Stacy Pasche, current Director of the Benzie Shores District Library as Adams replacement. After serving at the Charlevoix Public Library as Director, Adams spent seven years guiding cooperative services throughout norther lower Michigan. “Linda’s strong leadership, passionate advocacy, and love of libraries benefited every library in the cooperative and she will be greatly missed” noted Northland Board Chair Ryan Deery, current Director of the Charlevoix Public Library. “At the same time, we are excited for our next chapter and specifically for the experience, passion, ideas, and leadership Stacy Pasche will bring to the role” Pasche has served at the Benzie Shores District Library for 17 years, including eight years as library director. During Pasche’s tenure as Director at Benzie Shores, she helped guide the library through a period of growth and innovation, overseeing the library’s expansion and the addition of the Harmony Garden, an outdoor space designed to support early literacy through music. She also strengthened community partnerships, expanded outreach and programming, and led initiatives that increased the library’s visibility and impact throughout the community. “I am excited to carry the lessons and experiences from my career into my new role with the Northland Library Cooperative and to continue supporting the important work of libraries throughout our region” stated Stacy. Nerd Girl Industries Workshops

This may be unorthodox, and even a little bit gauche, but since there have been many requests (or accolades) for workshops on this list, I am throwing my hat in the ring for consideration at your libraries as I've already had several directors reach out after my promo email about my upcoming events at KDL posted over the weekend. My bona fides: As most of you know, I'm a librarian as well as a writer, researcher, and other job titles. I have my MLIS from Wayne State. My side hustle, Nerd Girl Industries, presents workshops and webinars on various topics from research to social media. (As well as services and packages but that may not be applicable for the list.)
