The Delta Township Manager's Office will be accepting applications for two part-time positions at the Delta Township District Library, 5130 Davenport Road in Lansing. Library Assistant, Youth Services (part-time) Under the supervision of the Youth Services Librarian, this position performs a variety of duties and responsibilities that assists in the smooth and efficient operation of the library; plans library programs for infants, toddlers, youth, and teens; provides readers advisory and informational assistance to all ages; assists in maintaining the youth section of the library; assists with community and school outreach; assists as requested in other areas of the library. Posting deadline: Friday, August 23, 2013 at 5 p.m. Clerk, Circulation (part-time) Under the supervision of the MeLCAT/Circulation Librarian, this position performs a variety of duties and responsibilities that assists in the smooth and efficient operation of the library, including charging books, magazines, and other library holdings in and out of the circulation desk; checking incoming materials and inspecting them for damage; operating a variety of standard office machines including a computer and cash register. Duties also include preparing holds for patrons as well as contacting them regarding overdue material. 2013 Michigan Reads! program is coming soon!

Please excuse the 2012 note in the subject heading. This is for the 2013 program. >>>>>>>>>>>> I am pleased to announce that the 2013 Michigan Reads! program kits are coming to libraries soon! Kits will be mailed to all public library and tribal library locations by next week via the post office. Please find Nancy Robertson's letter to the program participants attached. Keep an eye out for the kit with the Target logo for your children and youth librarians! As we announced earlier, the book for this year is Leslie Helakoski's Woolbur, which features a creative young sheep named Woolbur. When Woolbur is asked to do things, he finds original ways to accomplish everyday tasks and shares his ideas with others. The story, the language, the joyfulness of Woolbur's actions, and the wonderful illustrations all come together to make Woolbur a go to book for both children and older readers as they learn how to go about their own day. The launch event will be on Monday, September 9th at the East Lansing Public Library with guest reader Julie Calley and Leslie Helakoski in celebration of International Literacy Day. *JOB POSTING: Library Director, Dorr Township Library* Dorr Township Library seeks a Library Director to promote and continue the Library’s commitment to quality library services for the Township of Dorr and surrounding communities. Dorr Township Library is part of the Lakeland Library Cooperative which shares resources across eight west Michigan counties. The Director will work closely with the Board of Trustees and the library staff and volunteers to articulate its vision for library services, create and implement library procedures, administer the library budget, assist the Library Assistant in directing library programs and services, manage facility needs, and execute fundraising and resource development. Dorr Township is a thriving and growing community situated in northern Allegan County and the Library services rural and suburban patrons of all ages. Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree and Level 4 Certification from the Library of Michigan. The successful candidate will have a strong customer-service focus, excellent interpersonal skills, solid managerial and budget management abilities, and is able to work in a team-based environment.
