Michigan Reads 2014 program final report
by Reish, Karren (MDE) 09 Jan '15

09 Jan '15

We've had a wonderful 10th year for the Michigan Reads program. Our book was Acoustic Rooster and His Barnyard Band and we hosted both the author, Kwame Alexander, and the illustrator, Tim Bowers, on a tour of Michigan schools and libraries. As we are reviewing the survey results and thinking about what book to select for 2015, please contact me if you have a book suggestion. The author should be able to do a tour and preferably be from the Great Lakes area. The book should be appropriate for preschoolers to 2nd grade. I have attached the final report for your information. Thank you for your participation! Couch to 5K program
by Marsh, Nyama 09 Jan '15

09 Jan '15

Hello, Have any of you done a Couch to 5K program at your library? An actual full-length weekly training, not just a one night informational session? I'm thinking of something along the lines of having a local guru lead the program with weekly runs from the library, culminating in (optional) participation in a local 5k race. If you have done anything like this please let me know how it went, what hiccups you encountered, participation, etc. Thanks. Have a wonderful day, Nyama Nyama Y.
