Playaways
by Patricia Braden 11 May '18

11 May '18

Are any libraries still circulating Playaways? We had a patron request that we start a Playaway collection, but I'm wondering if that is an old technology that would not get used much. Thanks for your feedback! Patty Patty Braden, Director Romulus Public Library 11121 Wayne Road Romulus, MI 48174 734-942-7589 www.romuluslibrary.org

DeTour Public Library position
by Lisa Waskin 10 May '18

10 May '18

With the recent passage of the millage in DeTour, and their joining of the Superior District Library, we have an opening for an enthusiastic, creative, and innovative Library Manager at our newest member. This position has an immediate start date status because of the retirement by the current manager at the end of the month, but we will be flexible with the understanding that you may need to give notice at your current place of employment. This unique opportunity in DeTour Village, located on the far eastern tip of the Upper Peninsula, is in an idyllic harbor town on Lake Huron. Many of you may know it as the town where you catch the ferry to Drummond Island. The townspeople are friendly, and the sounds of ships passing through the fog can be heard on many nights. I personally have had the pleasure to live there for the past two years. The library is part of the school, which encompasses Kindergarten through High School, and also houses the DeTour Academy of Arts and Technology. They have an active Friends of the Library group, and the library serves both the school and the public, and is an integral part of the small community. Job Posting and Job Description are attached. If you wish to apply for this once-in-a-lifetime position, please send your resume and cover letter to me at: lisaw(a)uproc.lib.mi.us <mailto:lisaw@uproc.lib.mi.us> or by mail to the Superior District Library, Attn: Lisa Waskin, 541 Library Drive, Sault Ste. Marie, MI 49783. Applications will be taken until the position is filled by the right candidate. Thank you, Lisa Lisa Waskin, Director Superior District Library 541 Library Drive Sault Ste. Marie, MI 49783 Ph. (906) 632-9331 Fax (906) 635-0210 lisaw(a)uproc.lib.mi.us <mailto:lisaw@uproc.lib.mi.us>
