by Nancy Folaron 15 May '18

15 May '18

We have some grant money to purchase STEAM kits for our kids. If you have ordered them for your library could you please share your experiences with us? What vendors do you purchase the kits from? Are there certain types of kits that are more popular with the kids? Do you loan them out or are they in library use only? Anything else you would like to share with us? If you could please reply off list I will compile the responses later and share. Nancy Folaron -- Nancy Folaron, Assistant Director Shiawassee District Library/Durand Memorial Branch 700 N. Last call for shelves and frames
by Matt Church 15 May '18

15 May '18

Hi all, We've got several shelf frames ( 44" tall), lots of 3' shelves, and some 3' shelves with flip tops for magazine/newspaper displays up for grabs. They're a mix of Montel and Art Metal. (Montel bought Art Metal years ago so they are pretty much interchangeable.) Happy to send pictures, answer any questions, or give you more specifics if you're interested. Anyone interested? No charge! Next stop is the scrapyard. Matt Matt Church, Library Director Berkley Public Library 3155 Coolidge Hwy. Berkley, MI 48072 248-658-3449 mchurch(a)berkley.lib.mi.us www.berkley.lib.mi.us

by Andrea Estelle 15 May '18

15 May '18

Hi Everyone! I have compiled the list of the wonderful recommendations everyone sent me for building our new Adult Graphic Novel collection, I had many requests for the results to be shared. If a title had more than one recommendation I put the number of recommendations behind it in parentheses. I also included any helpful links I was sent. The top 5 most-recommended series were: * Walking Dead * Saga * Maus 1 and 2 * Watchmen * Sandman We are very excited for our new collection! I have already begun ordering, thank you all so much for your help! Andrea Andrea Estelle, MLIS Library Director . From: Andrea Estelle [mailto:aestelle@otsegolibrary.org] Sent: Tuesday, May 8, 2018 8:30 AM To: 'michlib-l(a)mcls.org' <michlib-l(a)mcls.org> Subject: Adult Graphic Novels: Building the Core Collection Hi All. This message is specifically for adult graphic novel gurus :) We are building a brand new adult graphic novel collection here at ODL and we only have space at first for about 10 shelves. Can you reply off list and send me your TOP 5 adult graphic novels/series!? I've been doing some research but would love to add your thoughts as well. We have nice junior and teen graphic novel collections going that are quite popular - so I don't really need suggestions for the younger areas. I would be happy to compile the results and send out to everyone if you like. Thanks for your help. Have a great day! Andrea Andrea Estelle, MLIS Library Director .
