Here's how you can help: We're asking you to use your own external and internal communication channels to help spread the word about voter registration and voting safely during a pandemic. Bylaws are the rules that trustees must adhere to as members of the board. Attendance, recruitment, officer elections, duties and limits of authority are all topics that comprehensive bylaws may cover. Bylaws assist a board in maintaining order and in assuring consistency through changes in membership on the board. This session will discuss how a board can create, update and maintain their bylaws so their rules remain relevant and useful. I will be joining several of my fellow E-Rate State Coordinators from around the country in leading these trainings and I couldn't be more excited. We will learn about the history of the forests – who used to use them before the Europeans arrived, how they were utilized improperly, recovery efforts to bring them back, and how we can help conserve forests for the future. Just a reminder that the Library of Michigan has already purchased the PLA Early Literacy Calendar (featured in the PLA message below) for public libraries across Michigan. Library by appointment

Hi All! My library is currently offering curbside services only, but my tribe (we're a tiny tribal library!) is asking about possibly going to by-appointment only to allow patrons to come in to use the computers and briefly browse. For those libraries currently, or previously, offering by-appointment only entrance into your buildings, I hoped you could answer some questions: 1. What are you doing/how are you handling making appointments? Do patrons call in, set up an appointment online, use an app, etc.? 2. How long are your appointment times? How long in between appointment sessions? 3. Cleaning in between appointments? Or, just scheduled times (multiple) each day? 4. Do you offer appointments for computers only, with patrons being allowed to quickly browse stacks "as normal."? Or, are you offering for both browsing and computer use? 5. Any challenges that you've found doing by-appointment only? (Other than not being able to let people in when they want to come in). Thank you all so much for any help!
