Virtual Auction

Good morning, I'm seeking some advice. Our Friends group is looking to host a virtual auction as we head into the holidays, with the intention of allowing participants to bid over a two to three week period. They've asked for a bit of help, but this is all new terrain for me! I've done some digging and have found examples of software that might aid with the process - but obviously they'd prefer to keep things as low-budget as possible. Has anyone out there hosted a virtual auction or similar fundraiser? Any suggestions or advice as to how our Friends can create a smooth and simple experience for our participants, preferably without breaking the bank? Is social media an option or are there legal pitfalls there that I'm unaware of? Any insight would be much appreciated! Hello all! We're dealing with a large water damage and mold remediation issue here at ADL and have been closed since August 25. It's complicated by the fact that our insurance is denying our claim. Interim Director of the William P. Faust Public Library of Westland

Congratulations to my best friend, Jennifer Roth, on being named Interim Director of the William P. Faust Public Library of Westland. October 6, 2020 - The Westland Library Board has appointed Jennifer Roth to serve as the interim Library Director, which was recently vacated by previous director, Ishwar Laxminarayan, who served from June 2018 to September 2020 and resigned earlier this month citing personal reasons. Roth's appointment is effective as of October 5, 2020. Prior to her appointment, Roth served for three years as the Head of Information Services for the Westland Public Library. She has over 17 years in the field of library services, having formerly worked in libraries in Flint and Hartland. Roth graduated from Wayne State University with a Masters Degree in Library Information Science (MILS) in 2003. She is a member of the American Library Association as well as the Michigan Library Association, where she serves on the Planning Committee. "I am excited for Jennifer as she steps into her new role at the Westland Library," commented Mayor Wild. "Throughout her employment she truly excelled at increasing innovation and access to technology for library patrons and has expanded programming geared towards adults of all ages." Roth was selected unanimously by the Westland Library Board and was also highly recommended for the position by the former Library Director. large print request

I have a patron that needs large print books but also has terrible arthritis and can't hold a hardcover book (or thick paperbacks). If you have thinner (I'll say 1 inch or skinnier) paperback large print books that he might like, could you send me the title and your MeL code? I have tried to search for books for him on MeL, but I usually can't tell if it's hardcover or paperback. If I have a title and your code, I can zero right in on a particular book. Thanks in advance. MeL is Magical: Self-Care Edition

Surprisingly, it was taken B.C.-19 (before COVID-19). Little did we know that more challenges than just simply surviving a family road trip during spring break would soon emerge. In writing about self-care this month, we think this picture is even more appropriate than before. While your outward demeanor might not look like our photo, we are guessing there has been more than one internal moment in which you may have felt intense stress. Dr. Brené Brown, an incredible qualitative researcher and author of numerous books on the concepts of resiliency, vulnerability, and shame, discovered some of the common attributes in people who overcame tremendous hardship and yet are, as she describes, whole-hearted.
