Gigabit Library Network Year End Wrap Up Session - 12-18 at 11 am ET
by Shannon White - Library of Michigan 16 Dec '20

16 Dec '20

Join Friday at 11am ET for Gigabit Library Network's (GLN) year-end wrap up and look ahead. What just happened in 2020?! When: 12/18 at 11am ET Register: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/part-32-libraries-in-recovery-2021-outlook-mic… We'll hear from PLA President, Michelle Jeske and GA Librarian, Julie Walker on what they see as some lessons from 2020 and as opportunities of 2021. Michelle will deliver her perspective from the national (& her local) scene. Julie will return to present an array of promising wireless expansion projects the state library is supporting. All good stuff to help us turn the page on this monster of a year where crisis upon crisis continues to exhaust yet somehow inspire library innovation. Brighter days ahead? Yes! Out of crisis, opportunity. But it'll be up to all of us to make it so. Speakers: Michelle Jeske, Director, Denver Public Library and current President, Public Libraries Association. Julie Walker, State Librarian for the Georgia Public Library Service (GPLS). Hi! Can anyone recommend a Library Building Designing Firm that they have recently used? 20 years ago we used Library Design, but I'm sure there are plenty more. Thank you! Labor Law Poster Orders due by Friday at 5:00pm
by Kate Andrade 14 Dec '20

14 Dec '20

Lots of cross-posting - I don't want to miss anyone! The ordering period for the* 2021 Labor Law Poster* set is open now. You can reserve your set (will be shipped to you in January 2021) by filling out the form found at this link: https://forms.gle/LLxTxq87enDhdzv3A Labor Law Posters are required for all work locations and need to be current. Woodlands Library Cooperative purchases our sets through the Michigan Chamber of Commerce, which keeps funds in Michigan, and best of all, you can tell those aggressive and sometimes shady vendors who hound you and your staff that you're taken care of for the year. If they give you a hard time, feel free to send them to me. *Pricing*: At the most, $24 per set. We will ship to your library in a poster tube, along with a copy of your invoice. Your cost comes down as more sets are ordered. Last year libraries ordered enough sets of posters to bring the price down to $16.25 per set, including the poster tube. *Deadline: Friday, December 18, 2020 at 5:00pm. * Free free to drop me a line if you have questions or concerns. Stay safe, kate -- Kate Pohjola Andrade, Director Woodlands Library Cooperative <https://woodlands.lib.mi.us> 517-629-9469 / 586-801-0725 - cell/text Board Member, Midwest Collaborative for Library Services <https://www.mcls.org/> *No Reservation Recommendations* <https://nrr.ninja>: your source for colleague-approved vendors! she/her/hers
