Power/automatic doors
by Don Priest 10 Feb '22

10 Feb '22

Hello fellow librarians, I am once again looking to pick the collective brain! I'm considering some power doors here, and would love your input on installing them, or if there's anything you wish you had known ahead of time, things to consider, regrets, etc. The project is really two parts, that I'm hoping to do all together: 1. Power doors, button activated, for the public bathrooms 2. Automatic doors, motion activated, for the main entrance (like a supermarket) I'm in the very early stages, where I know nothing, so all insight and opinions are appreciated! We have a set of HP 410-A, Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow laser toner cartridges, new in the package. The printer that used them (HP Color Laserjet MFP M477fdw) gave up before we could use them up. They are free and we really hope someone will have a use for them. Mark -- *Mark Morton* Director Leland Township Public Library 203 E Cedar St PO Box 736 Leland, MI 49654 231-256-9152

Software suggestions
by Perri Saunders 10 Feb '22

10 Feb '22

We are looking for an affordable ticketing and reporting software to use on our public computers. This software would have tickets we would give to patrons so they can sign on to the public computer, and would allow us to view usage reports. Are you using anything similar to this? What is it, and what is the cost? FYI - We're a Class II library. Any suggestions? Thanks! Perri -- Perri Saunders, Director White Pigeon Township Library 102 N. Kalamazoo St., P.O. Michigan eLibrary: eBook Lexile® Levels
by Ann Kaskinen 10 Feb '22

10 Feb '22

Good morning, Field codes are a useful tool to use when searching many of the MeL databases for specific information. Lexile® levels are great to use for identifying the reading level of a book, especially for younger people. The field code for Lexile® in the EBSCO products from MeL is LX. We’ve created a handy, very general, interactive guide that you can use to help elementary-age students make selections for books that are in their range. Additionally, we’ve included some sample searches to get you started. https://docs.google.com/document/d/18Se6MarW9iNmKq_-2SHRmkiA-PVPKlO3133k1ac… If you have questions about searching by Lexile® or the eResources in MeL, please contact us at melerhelp(a)mcls.org<mailto:melerhelp@mcls.org>. If you would like to schedule a training with your school or library, please contact us at mcls.org/melrequest<https://www.mcls.org/mel/mel-databases/mel-engagementtraining-request/>. Have a great day! Ann Ann Kaskinen MeL Engagement Specialist K12 Midwest Collaborative for Library Services (MCLS) (800) 530-9019 ext 150
