Looking for the title of a "Mystery" Book
by Sonja Downey 31 Mar '22

31 Mar '22

Dear Mystery-solvers, I am trying to help a patron find the title of a book. It is referenced in Charles Martin's newest title "The Water Keeper". In Chapter 32 on page 221 he mentions the Card Sound Bridge near Key Largo. Allegedly a broken-hearted writer drove his Mercedes off the bridge. The driver was lost at sea, but the burnt out car was erected as a rusty monument on the shore nearby. This passage rang a bell with our patron and she thinks she read a book about this incident, but can't remember title or author. She is intrigued that this incident was mentioned by Charles Martin in his book and would just love to reread this other book. Does this ring a bell with anybody? Any suggestions? Thank you so much for putting on your thinking caps. Warm wishes, Sonja

by White, Shannon (MDE) 31 Mar '22

Find useful ways to include our classes in programming in your community outreach. Are you looking for virtual programming for older adults? The GetSetUp service provides this for you without taking time from your own staff to develop and produce. See the list below of upcoming virtual classes you can promote in your own local communities. The Library of Michigan and Michigan Department of Health and Human Services are partnering to support the ability of older Michigan residents to access live, online virtual classes on a variety of topics through GetSetUp. See below details about what is available for your patrons from GetSetUp. The GetSetUp classes include a wide variety of topics including live classes on technology, meditation, brain fitness, art, cooking, financial planning, aging in place, and more. Fees for classes for the Michigan community are WAIVED using this code: MICHIGANHEALTH while booking a class. LM began pushing information about GetSetUp out to the public libraries last year during COVID and we are continuing to work with them to encourage libraries to take advantage of the quality, online, virtual programming they can offer to their communities. With staffing challenges still a concern and libraries having many commitments to make GetSetUp is a useful tool to be able to offer quality, virtual, online programming to your older patron community.
