Hello, Does anyone have examples of what their library's public relations report looks like? We use what is provided from HootSuite (our social media management tool) but we were curious to see how other libraries organize their reports. MCLS Virtual Dialogue about Motivation - There's Still Time to Register!
by Jenny Kobiela-Mondor 06 Jan '23

06 Jan '23

How do you get motivated about doing the tasks that you really aren't looking forward to doing? What strategies can you learn from others to motivate yourself to get all that work done? Motivation is the topic of MCLS's first Virtual Dialogue of 2023, on Tuesday, January 17, at 10:30am-noon Eastern (9:30-11am Central). Registration is open now at https://www.mcls.org/training-events/events/virtual-dialogues-2023. One of the bright spots during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic was our Virtual Dialogue series, and we're thrilled to bring them back. The Virtual Dialogues aren't a webinar or workshop, but instead are an opportunity for librarians and library workers at all levels and in all library types to talk about issues impacting their work. During the dialogue, we will spend time sharing thoughts, ideas, and insights with other participants. Additional dialogues are planned for March 15, May 11, July 11, September 14, and November 15, on topics that are important to you! You can register at the link for one, a few, or all of the dialogues. We can't wait to engage with you! MiLibraryQuest - Dungeons and Dragons
by MiLibrary Quest 06 Jan '23

06 Jan '23

Hello, All libraries in Michigan are invited to participate in MiLibraryQuest: Winter 2023, an online event for teens throughout the state. The Quest will begin on February 1. The theme will be Dungeons and Dragons. Teens will solve riddles, participate in the quest, and enter for a chance to win a prize from their library. This is our 5th biannual Quest. The format this time will be different from previous Quests. Instead of clues on each library's website, the Quest will be housed primarily on the MiLibraryQuest website. The format change will make it even easier for your library to participate. All you need to do is: 1. sign up to participate (here <https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScZbYK_o_GM_XHA-N0TDXe7K4cpfExqh7N…>) and 2. award a prize to a teen from your library who participates (at the end of the Quest). The prize can be anything you choose - a book, a gift card, a leftover Summer Reading prize, whatever you choose! We will also provide publicity information. How you choose to publicize the Quest - online, in your library, in your community - is up to you. It's a fun program for your teens with very little time commitment from you! If you'd like to participate, please sign up here <https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScZbYK_o_GM_XHA-N0TDXe7K4cpfExqh7N…> by Friday, January 13. All participating libraries are invited to our Zoom meeting next Wednesday afternoon (January 11) to see details of this Quest. We will send the Zoom link to all libraries who sign up. If you have any questions in the meantime, please let us know at milibraryquest(a)gmail.com.
