A local non-profit foundation wants to me with us about possibly participating in this program at our library. Apparently no entity in our Michigan County (Antrim) participates. I do know how this program works from the family receiving end, but not sure of how our library would be expected to participate - costs, time spent, etc. Anyone with any experience with this program, can you send me your thoughts, ideas, suggestions? Programming Recommendation : Alex Thomas and Friends

Hello Libraryland! The Benzie Shores District Library just hosted Alex Thomas and Friends for a T.V. Puppetry Workshop and it was FANTASTIC. This is the second time we have hosted Alex Thomas and Friends for a program and they have been consistently wonderful to work with. We had an intergenerational group and everyone got into the spirit and participated (even those reluctant caregivers had a great time) ! Everyone left with huge smiles and a newfound respect for the teamwork required to make shows, like Sesame Street, as a performer. We worked on how puppets can “come to life”, perspective, teamwork, and how live puppet shows are different from the puppets you see on your screens - along with some of the “T.V. magic” that you can use to make something spectacular. They also create great video content with puppets and can fabricate just about anything. If you have a PSA, a summer reading video, or even training videos that you think could benefit from some fancy felt friends Alex Thomas and Friends are the ones to call! I am happy to answer any questions about our experiences with them but I would highly recommend their programs and we cannot wait to have them back! Question about scan-to-email policies

Hi everyone, We are seeing an increase in patrons wanting our staff to do scan-to-email for them and I was wondering if anyone has a policy on how many pages such requests can be. We also had one patron who left very sensitive legal documents with our librarian (over 100 pages) and said they would come back later. The librarian has asked if I can create a procedure or policy they can use to stop a patron from doing something like this again. Next year we plan on installing new copier/printer/scanners so people can do it themselves but we need something in place until that time. Or even just a document handling policy saying that patrons have to stay with the librarian until the scanning is complete and they get their documents back. Thanks!
