A few of the regularly scheduled continuing education events from the Library of Michigan have been scheduled for 2015. You can find these listed on the Library of Michigan's web page at www.michigan.gov/libraryce<http://www.michigan.gov/libraryce> Beginning Workshop - May 12-14, 2015 Bellaire, MI An annual 3-day event held each spring for library staff without a Master's degree in Library Science. This event is part of the application process for some levels of certification. New Director Workshop - Thursday, September 17, 2015 Lansing, MI This is an annual one day event that provides a wide range of information for the new and experienced director. Attendance at these workshops is a necessary part of the qualification criteria for state aid to public libraries. Advanced Director Workshop - Friday, September 18, 2015 Lansing, MI This is a one-day event that will provide in-depth information on specific topics for new and experienced directors. Attendance at the workshops is a necessary part of the qualification criteria for state aid to public libraries. Current standards for state aid for public libraries require Classes 4 - 6 directors to complete the Advanced Directors Workshop within 2 years of initial appointment. Great News Concerning a MAP Partner Venue: Yankee Air Museum

All, I thought I would share this great news that appeared in an article in yesterday's Detroit Free Press (link to article at bottom) about our MAP partner venue Yankee Air Museum. As a result of a successful fund raising campaign the Yankee Air Museum was able to acquire a portion of the former Willow Run Bomber Plant, made famous by the thousands of "Rosie the Riveters" who worked there to produce the B-24 bomber during WWII. In 2017, to coincide with the move into its new building the Yankee Air Museum will change its name to National Museum of Aviation and Technology at Historic Willow Run. On behalf of the MAP program TLN sent a congratulatory note to YAM, in which we also thanked them on behalf of all Michigan public libraries for their continued participation in the Michigan Activity Pass program. No More Tomorrows: A Look into the Kennedy Assassination Wednesday, November 5, 7-8pm 50 years after President Kennedy's assassination, there are still questions and controversies surrounding his tragic death. Gerald K. Dodson looked into the assassination of JFK, had access to secret government documents and came up with conclusions. This talk, along with a slide presentation, will tell of his findings showing who the actual shooters were and the reliable evidence surrounding the events of November 22, 1963.
