The Executive Board of LibraryLinkNJ <http://librarylinknj.org/> , located in Piscataway, NJ, seeks an experienced leader-responsive to member, staff and state-wide needs and skilled in focusing the efforts of a team of talented professionals-as its next Executive Director. LibraryLinkNJ is the single, statewide, multi-type library cooperative in New Jersey, working in partnership with its 2,000 multi-type member libraries and the New Jersey State Library to provide access to excellent library services for 8.79 million residents in twenty-one counties. With a $1.84 million annual budget and 6 FTE system staff, LibraryLinkNJ is a member-focused organization with a reputation for providing effective continuing education, strong outreach services, high-level support for innovative technologies, and statewide delivery to its multi-type library membership. The Cooperative has over 1100 voting representatives from over 2,000 public and private school, public, academic, institutional, corporate, health sciences and special libraries and library-related agencies. The Executive Director's primary role is to provide leadership and initiative for LibraryLinkNJ. Hi all, I had a program last month with Ryan Malloch - from Innovative Investments did a Social Security 101 program that was very well received. He is interested in doing programs at other libraries so I told him I'd pass along his contact information. One piece of advice - our program was an hour and a half long - he was asked so many questions that he had to rush through the last bit of the presentation - if I were to do it over I'd start half an hour earlier. Letters about Literature 2016 program announcement reminder

We hope to see letters from your patrons about the books that have changed their view of the world or themselves. >>>>>>>>>>>>>> The Library of Michigan is announcing the 2016 Letters about Literature<http://www.read.gov/letters/> program. We are the Michigan host for this national program from the Library of Congress. It is a reading-writing contest that invites readers in grades 4 through 12 to write letters to authors of books that have changed their lives. This program gives students the opportunity to reflect deeply on a book. As readers, they come to understand how literature is more than assignment, but also a life changing experience. Children and teens can participate on their own or as part of a library or class project. The 2016 letters will be due in two waves. Level III entries (grades (9-12) have a deadline of December 4, 2015 and Level I and II entries (grades 4-6 and 7-8) have a deadline of January 11, 2016. The state and national winners will be announced in May 2016. The call for proposals for the 2016 Loleta Fyan Small and Rural Library Conference is open through October 19. Submit your session proposal online at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/RLC2016 The conference will be held from May 4-6, 2016 at Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island. This is a specially crafted to reach the informational needs of small and rural library staff members throughout Michigan. The event features vendors, awards, keynote speakers and an array of sessions geared to libraries serving small and rural communities. Rural Libraries Conference 2016: Recognize your peers for a job well done

Greetings Michigan Library Community, We all enjoy the feeling of being recognized by our peers for a job well done. This is your opportunity to take a few hours between now and January 8th to put together a nomination packet for one of four awards being given at RLC 2016 on Mackinac Island. Please consider who you know that meets the quality of excellence in the profession. Do you know someone at a small or rural library who is a leader in our profession? How about someone who goes the extra mile when working with children and teens? Do you have Trustee or Friend who goes above and beyond the call of duty to promote and advance your library? Do you know a small or rural library that truly excels (and that library could be you!) We want to hear from you! It's time again to nominate libraries, directors, librarians, employees, trustees, and friends of rural libraries for a Loleta Fyan Small and Rural Libraries Conference Awards. The conference will be held at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island May 4-6, 2016. Nominations are due by Friday, January 8, 2016. There will be four awards in 2016 (the same number as 2014). The categories are: * Outstanding Small/Rural Librarian Award * Trustee/Friend Award * Outstanding Youth/Children Award * The June B. Mendel Award for Excellence in Rural Library Service (this award goes to a small/rural library) Please note that Library Cooperative staff and conference planning committee chairs are not eligible for conference awards. To qualify for the award the library must serve a population of 25,000 or less. Branch locations of larger libraries do not qualify for nomination.
