Overhead people counter

Hello Everyone, I've been looking into different types of people counters to plan ahead for replacing ours. We currently use a SenSource Wireless counter that utilizes a break-beam to count. (http://www.sensourceinc.com/PC-TB12N.htm) As I've been looking online I have found that there are overhead counters that are more accurate, but require a hard-wire connection. (http://www.trafsys.com/people-counting/) Do any of you use an overhead counter? If so, what company do you use and do you like it? Possible author program - Monica Sholar

Hello, I would like to recommend thriller/suspense author, Monica Sholar, from Canton for presentations at your library. Monica is the author of the Belle Isle Heights series and talks about her journey to becoming a published author. She spoke at our library last week and we found her to be quite inspirational regarding the importance of pursuing your passion. She is personable, organized, punctual, and can bring her own books to sell. Her website is www.monicasholar.com and her email is authormrs(a)gmail.com. As I listened to her talk, I really thought she would also be a great speaker for teens. Even though her books are targeted for adults, as a young African-American woman who is positively pursuing her dream, Monica is a great role model and I think her message would resonant strongly with teens who are interested in writing. Several aspiring writers were in attendance at our program and Monica was very supportive of their work and gave them concrete advice. Feel free to contact me off-list if you have further questions. The Wayne State University School of Library and Information Science seeks an Assistant/Associate/Full Professor who will perform research and teach in one or more of the following areas: archives, collection development, digital preservation, information security, social media, plus teach one of the SLIS core courses. Candidates are expected to contribute to the growing and dynamic online teaching environment. The School of Library and Information Science offers the M.L.I.S. degree, a specialist certificate, graduate certificates in archival administration, information management, children and youth services in urban libraries, Michigan School Library Media Endorsement, and a joint MLIS and MA in history degree. The School currently has approximately 450 enrolled students. A complete position description is attached. comic books

We've started to offer comic books, and are wondering if anyone else is--particularly, how are you cataloging them and displaying them. For example, we started getting Looney Tunes, and will probably put it in our junior area. Other titles we've ordered are The New Avengers, Superman, and Teen Titans. The Melvil Dewey Medal is an annual award consisting of $2,000, a Dewey Medal, and a 24k gold-framed citation to an individual or group for recent creative leadership of high order, particularly in those fields in which Melvil Dewey was actively interested: library management, library training, cataloging and classification, and the tools and techniques of librarianship. The 2015 award winner was Hwa-Wei Lee, former chief of the Asian Division of the Library of Congress. Michigan Libraries - Amazon will start charging sales tax in Michigan on October 1. If you have let them know of your state sales tax exemption, what was the procedure? Call for Proposals On behalf of the Conference Program Committee, we invite you to submit a proposal for the 3rd Annual Great Lakes Resource Sharing Conference. The event will be held in Indianapolis, IN at the Sheraton Indianapolis at Keystone Crossing. This conference is an opportunity for individuals working in resource sharing to gather information and communicate with other colleagues. We invite program proposals from October 12, 2015 to January 15, 2016. Accepted program proposal submissions should be 45 minutes in length including time for questions. Proposals might focus on any of the following areas: ● Resource Sharing Best Practices ● Marketing Services ● Electronic Resources and Resource Sharing ● Workflow Improvements ● Cooperative Collection Development ● Consortial or Group Purchasing ● Purchase on Demand ● Reciprocal Borrowing ● Shared Staffing and Training ● Shared Discovery Layers ● E-Books ● Resource Sharing in Next Gen Systems ● Shared Print Projects Please submit a 150-200 word proposal for your presentation via the GLRSC website.
