National Day on Writing Celebration

Hello everyone, This Saturday, October 17th, the Westland Library will be having a National Day on Writing Celebration. We invite aspiring authors and everyone interested in writing to join us this Saturday from 1-4 pm to learn more about publishing and marketing your work locally. Our guest speakers are local author Cheryl Vatcher-Martin and Linda Moore, the founder of Moore Publishing of Michigan. We'll end the event with a Local Author Fair from 3-4 pm, where people can meet local authors and learn more about their books. Probationary Period for Card Holders?

Hi! Do any libraries have a probationary period for new card holders? If you do, is it for everyone or it is based on some criteria; how long is the probationary period; and what are the limitations? We currently do not have any restrictions - a card is valid immediately and the card holder can max out checkout limits on the first day. Recently we have had a number of new card holders who do just that and are never heard from again. Any advice, examples, or suggestions are welcome! Processing Question

Good afternoon everyone! Does anyone out there in library land have a good solution for keeping spine labels on hardcover cloth-bound titles? We have purchased some classics in this beautiful style but they have proven difficult to process. We have tried some various methods and they don't stick as well to these books.
