Hello Everyone, Just passing this on. It is an excellent library - #1 by many standards of the 15 in Milwaukee County. The community neighbors the one I'm in (Whitefish Bay, WI). We are looking for a dynamic and confident leader, with an optimistic approach to their work and peers. We need an individual with fresh ideas, who can supervise, inspire, and motivate staff with integrity. The ideal candidate would have strong managerial experience, as well as experience working in multiple library departments. Shorewood The Village of Shorewood is a suburb of the city of Milwaukee. Nestled between the banks of Lake Michigan and the Milwaukee River, Shorewood is notable for both natural beauty and semi-urban living. It borders Milwaukee's lively East Side, shares a river border with the diverse neighborhood of Riverwest, and blends with attractive suburbs to the north. Shorewood is only about one square mile, so with a population of over 13,000 people is one of the most densely populated miles in Wisconsin. Shorewood is a desirable place to live: walkable, bike-friendly, featuring shopping, dining and the forested Oak Leaf Trail - with access to downtown Milwaukee and the beaches of Lake Michigan. Shorewood Public Library Shorewood Public Library serves the community with pride as an active member of the Milwaukee County Federated Library System (MCFLS) and a department of the Village of Shorewood. A busy library, Shorewood Library had the highest annual circulation per capita and number of library visits per capita amongst MCFLS libraries in 2014. Additionally, Shorewood Library had the highest per capita circulation to non-residents, affording the library a solid standing amongst member library peers. Shorewood Public Library is community-focused, working closely with the Shorewood School District and other Village departments and organizations. The community uses the library not only as a resource for information in all formats, but as a meeting place for change and public betterment. Our microfilm machine is broken, and apparently the needed parts are obsolete. Does anyone know of a place to purchase a used or refurbished machine? Also, for those libraries who have converted their newspapers to digital, can you tell me where you had these done, and approximately how much it cost. Thank you. Hello Elizabeth. I recently have been looking at people counters since we are having trouble with ours. Turns out we just need new batteries. :-) In the process of looking I received many positive recommendations for Sensource, which we currently use. Our counter is wireless and uses a break-beam to count. After my research, I am now considering an overhead thermal counter. A couple libraries let me know they purchased those in the last year and love them. They are much more accurate - but also more expensive to purchase. If you are a small library, cost may be a driving force. Do you want high accuracy for $2000 (per counter) or moderate accuracy for under $1000. Our break-beam system was purchased in 2011 for $750. It seems the batteries need replacing every 6 months to the tune of $50 for 4 batteries (they are special). The break beam does not need to be hard wired to the Ethernet so you can place it anywhere, rather it is wireless and requires batteries for power. If you get a thermal overhead one, then it has to be hardwired to Ethernet, which provides the electricity so there is no need for batteries. One library said this purchased this basic counter in the last year. http://www.peoplecounters.us/People-Counter.aspx# ($250!) A couple libraries recently used Sensource for overhead thermal counters, and those seem to run about $2000 per counter. Also, the Sensource ones have software that enables you to run reports for counts up to every 5 minutes to determine busy and slow periods. Compilation of replies: 1) I called the business number available online and an agent talked me through it and set it up. Very easy. 2) You can find information to sign up here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/taxExemption?ie=UTF8&ref_=ya_atepplus 3) did this yesterday. I just went through Amazon's preformatted sales tax exemption procedure. It is under Your Account>>Settings>>Amazon Tax Exemption Program and enter your password. You can either upload the State form or walk through Amazon's steps. If filled it out yesterday and is is already active. I haven't ordered yet and I think there is some caveat language that the Amazon certificate doesn't carry over to third party providers. It was pretty easy. 4) I found the process for tax exempt with Amazon. Hope this helps. It is attached.
