Preliminary findings and final reminder: Outsell's 2015 Information Management (IM) Benchmarking Survey closes 30 November *Final posting: thank you to everyone who has already contributed* Outsell's preliminary findings from this year's survey suggest that e-books are the top priority for increased investment for 2016. How does this compare to your IM budgeting for 2016? Also, around 40% of respondents report Big Data Analytics and skills with Visualization Tools as the areas where they are now experiencing the biggest skills gaps. How does the skill-set of your team compare to your peers? This is just a reminder that you can find out by participating in our 2015 survey for library leaders and managers, which is live until Monday, 30th November. e-mail sign ups with no cell phone

Does anyone know of an e-mail provider that patrons can sign up for that do not require additional authentication? We have a patron who needs an e-mail address to apply for a job. He has no cell phone, other e-mail address, facebook or google account. Honestly, I do not believe that he can create and remember that usernames and passwords for those services even if we sat down and created them. Yahoo and Gmail all require that you get a text or voice call for verification to set up and e-mail address. If he uses his home number and opts for the voice verification than he must go home, hope that there is a message on his answering machine and then hope that when he returns and tries to create his account again that the previously sent verification code will work. It seems that there has to be a better way for our patrons who do not use these other technologies to get an e-mail address. Thanks in advance! Hi, I was wondering if this would be for IT people who do more of the technical side of things (setting up routers, computer programs, managing machines and networking, etc), or if it would be for a more basic level (information on teaching patrons basic computer skills, etc.) I was also wondering if these meetings would be available as webinars at any point in the future. -- Katrina Schultz Crawford County Library
