*GLADL – Marketing Coordinator (Part-Time)* The Grand Ledge Area District Library is a Class IV library in a thriving suburb west of Lansing with a service population of 16,000 people and annual operating budget of $750,000. We want your ideas on how to enhance our collections (90K items), draw new users to the library (70K annual visitors), and create new readers (98K annual circulation). Lots to do in Grand Ledge and the greater Lansing area (music, plays, arts, river, parks) and we love a parade! The Grand Ledge Area District Library is looking for a creative individual to preparing marketing content and connecting with community organizations to increase awareness of the library and to assist with implementing programs. *Major duties include:* · Responsibilities include creating publicity material for the library, website content, managing the advertising budget, and maintaining the library’s social media presence. · Programming duties include providing creative input, documenting/publicizing events, and assisting with events as needed. We want your energy to welcome and engage patrons of all ages to the wide variety of services the library has to offer. · Staff are responsible for a wide variety of clerical activities and considerable communication with and service to library patrons to ensure a positive library experience. *QUALIFICATIONS*: · Education normally acquired through the completion of a high school degree, some college experience preferred. · Previous design and marketing experience required. · Previous library experience preferred. · Experience with Adobe Photoshop/GIMP or MS Publisher software applications required. *SALARY*: $12.00-14.00 per hour (negotiable based upon experience) *HOURS*: 24 hrs. per week, some evening and weekend hours required. *BENEFITS:* Limited benefits include annual paid personal time, life insurance/disability package, holidays, and 1% matching 457 retirement plan *SUBMIT:* Please complete GLADL job application and send resume and a sample of your publicity/ad work to Attn: Library Director, GLADL, 131 E. Free Spinner Racks

Hi Everyone, Our library (located in Holland, MI) has some spinner racks available for free. We are hoping another library can use them - great for paperbacks! You just need to arrange the pick up of parts and haul it away. We have 4 racks available with shorter shelves (which has 6 levels to hold books), and we have 3 racks available with taller shelves (which has 5 levels to hold books). Three Rivers Library CLOSED for scheduled RFID tagging

The Three Rivers Public Library will be closed Tuesday through Thursday, September 25 through 27 for a scheduled update to the cataloging system. While the library is closed, the entire collection will be re-cataloged with RFID technology. The library will be open for regular hours on Monday and Friday. Wish us luck! Call for Papers: The International Journal of Information, Diversity, & Inclusion (IJIDI)-Special Issue "Engaging Disability: Social Science Perspectives on Information and Inclusion" The International Journal of Information, Diversity, & Inclusion (IJIDI<https://publish.lib.umd.edu/IJIDI>) invites submissions for a special issue focused on social scientific perspectives on information and disability inclusion and empowerment. We welcome full research papers that make a novel contribution to this area of research; this may be empirical, theory-based, methodological, and/or practical in nature, and we encourage international perspectives and collaborations. We will also have a special section for student work, works in progress, opinion pieces, and professional reports. Extended abstracts of up to 1,000 words for full research papers and up to 500 words for contributions to the special section are due by 31 October 2018. Authors will be notified of acceptance in mid-November, and final papers will be due by 1 March 2019. We seek submissions from different disciplines and perspectives for this special issue of IJIDI. The goal of this special issue is to bring together researchers who focus specifically on Engaging Disability. Topics and themes related to disability and information access may include, but will not be limited to: * Physical, intellectual, and socio-cultural barriers and supports related to disability, information access, and inclusion * Analysis of international information policy considerations of disability * Hidden/invisible/latent disability * Engaging and including disability in libraries, museums, archives, and other information organizations * Disability and employment in LIS * Disability and higher education in LIS * Faculty and librarians with disabilities: Is technology inclusive or exclusive? * Accessibility and usability (broadly conceived) * Children and youth with disabilities in the context of information concepts * Intersectionality and disability: Exploring multiple identities * The disability culture: Information and technology issues Kim M. Hi: This may be a long shot but I'm hoping someone remembers this. We loaned our copy of the audio cd set "The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood" by Howard Pyle to a melcat library. It came back with one cd missing. We cannot replace the cd and I had removed the label telling me which library had it before I noticed it had a missing cd. Since I can't go back into melcat because it was checked in to see who had it, I'm hoping some library out there remembers it or has a record of it somewhere. Any help is appreciated. Schooners on the Great Lakes Schooners, or ships with fore-and-aft sails on two or more masts, were once the workhorses of the Great Lakes. During the nineteenth century, thousands of schooners sailed the Great Lakes. They carried cargoes of lumber, grain, iron ore, and even Christmas trees. They were cheap to operate and needed only a small crew. The ships vanished from the Great Lakes in the early twentieth century when bigger and faster steamships replaced them.
