Hello Shannon, I am hoping that you can help me with this...I signed up for this training but didn't get any confirmation or further information about it in my email. I just want to make sure that I am indeed registered for the class because I see now that it's full. I signed up March 3rd. Thanks, Shae ---------- Forwarded message --------- From: Cory Grimminck <cgrimminck(a)portlandmilibrary.com> Date: Mon, Mar 8, 2021 at 2:55 PM Subject: Fwd: [Michlib-l] Receive a certificate in Mental Health First Aid for Adults or Youth To: Shae Stoddard <sstoddard(a)portlandmilibrary.com> I got your email regarding this training . . . you could try contacting Shannon, as she's the one who originally sent it out. ---------- Forwarded message --------- From: White, Shannon (MDE) via Michlib-l <michlib-l(a)mcls.org> Date: Mon, Mar 1, 2021 at 8:24 AM Subject: [Michlib-l] Receive a certificate in Mental Health First Aid for Adults or Youth To: michlib-l(a)mcls.org <michlib-l(a)mcls.org> Like CPR, Mental Health First Aid prepares participants to interact with a person in crisis and connect the person with help. First Aiders do not take on the role of professionals — they do not diagnose or provide any counseling or therapy. Instead, the program offers concrete tools and answers key questions, like “what do I do?” and “where can someone find help?” Certified Mental Health First Aid instructors provide a list of community healthcare providers and national resources, support groups, and online tools for mental health and addictions treatment and support. All trainees receive a program manual to compliment the course material. Mental Health First Aid training includes a 2-hour self-paced course, followed by a 5.5 hour instructor led training. Participants who do not complete the self-paced portion or attend the full instructor led day will not be eligible to receive a certificate of completion. The Library of Michigan is offering two sessions through MSU Extension of the training, you may choose to attend a training focusing on adults or a training focusing on youth. Because LM is only able to fund a small number of seats for this certification opportunity, please be aware that only ONE staff member from each library/outlet can attend these sessions. Because seating is so limited and a specialized certification is issued, you will need to agree to a number of stipulations and complete the pre-registration application <https://gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fsurvey.al…> before we send the registration link. View more details in pre-registration application link. This link will be open through Friday, March 5. Participants who do not complete the self-paced portion, attend the full instructor led day, or do not complete the post-work and evaluation will not be eligible to receive a certificate of completion. Cancellations must be received at least three business days prior to the class. Alternates are encouraged for those who register but cannot attend. Participants who do not complete the self-paced portion or attend the full instructor led day will not be eligible to receive a certificate of completion. Participants who register for a training and fail to cancel at least three business days prior and no-show will be charged a $50 cancellation fee. *This program is supported in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services. * Shannon White Library Development Manager Library of Michigan, 702 W. Register now for this digital literacy workshop for Michigan library staff
by Pam Seabolt 08 Mar '21

08 Mar '21

Registration is now open for a new virtual training for Michigan library staff on creating a digital literacy learning plan for library staff, offered by MCLS in partnership with the Library of Michigan. This workshop is being offered multiple times through April and May to accommodate smaller participation limits in each session, which will allow for plenty of personal attention and lots of interactive small group activities. “Unlocking the Secrets of a Digital Literacy Learning Plan for Library Staff” is designed to equip you with the tools and a process to help you build a learning plan around technology and digital literacy skills for library staff. If you wish your library had such a learning plan in place, but you’re not sure where to start or how to organize it, then this workshop is for you! Developing a learning plan is essential in empowering staff to develop digital literacy and technology skills. In this four-hour virtual workshop, participants will learn the basics of creating a digital learning plan for their library that includes how to leverage collective strengths to build skills and how to incorporate technology competencies and create activities to help staff successfully achieve their digital literacy goals. This workshop is designed primarily for public library staff who have some responsibility or involvement in staff training. The workshop is designed to be interactive and will include small group activities in breakout rooms, and the use of a microphone and camera will be required for successful participation. Registration is just $15 and, because it is funded by the Library of Michigan, is open to Michigan Library staff. Each workshop will run from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm Eastern with a 45-minute lunch break. This workshop will only be available as live virtual instruction. At the completion of the workshop, continued support will be provided to participants in the form of six monthly virtual coaching calls. This continued support will be completely voluntary and for the purpose of gaining support in creation and implementation of a digital literacy learning plan for participants’ own libraries. For more information and workshop dates, please visit https://www.mcls.org/training-events/events/foundations-digital-literacy-20…. To register, please visit the MCLS Store at https://store.mcls.org. For any questions, please contact Pam Seabolt at seaboltp(a)mcls.org<mailto:seaboltp@mcls.org>. This project is made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services<https://www.imls.gov/>, with additional funding provided by the State of Michigan<https://www.michigan.gov/libraryofmichigan/>. **************************** Pamela Seabolt Library Strategist Engagement, Consulting, and Training Midwest Collaborative for Library Services (MCLS) (800) 530-9019 ext 123 seaboltp(a)mcls.org<mailto:seaboltp@mcls.org> [signature_564108044]<https://www.facebook.com/mcls.org> [signature_183420490] <https://twitter.com/mclsorg> [signature_1944259978] <http://www.mcls.org/>
