Registration still open - Library Law Spotlight webinar
by Wartella, Becky (MDE) 18 Aug '21

18 Aug '21

Join us this Friday, August 20, 2021, for the monthly Library Law Spotlight webinar. August 20, 2021, 10:00am-11:30am EST - Contracting for Public Library Service Does your library have contracts for service? Are you interested in locating new areas to contract with? When was the last time you reviewed existing contracts to see if they were still reasonable? Do your existing contracts reflect realistic costs of providing service? August's Library Law Spotlight webinar is all about contracting for service- how to identify unserved areas, how to identify an appropriate and reasonable amount of cost for services to be rendered, and how to discuss cost increases with an existing contract holder. Whether you are hoping to add contracted areas, or, renegotiate with the ones you have, this webinar will provide information to help you form reasonable contracts that provide service and appropriately compensate the library. by Tracy Wilson (Roseville Public Library) 17 Aug '21

17 Aug '21

Hi all, We are considering doing a "refer-a-friend" program for library card sign up month. If a cardholder refers a friend to apply for a library card - both get entered into a prize drawing. If anyone has done anything similar - any tips or advice? How did you manage who was referring who? Thanks! Thanks all - the sheet music and comics have been claimed! -----Original Message----- From: Valerie Meyerson Sent: Monday, August 16, 2021 3:36 PM To: michlib-l <michlib-l(a)mail2.mcls.org> Subject: Sheet Music & Collectible Comics Hello - We received two different donations for our used book sale: 1. Vintage sheet music - 1900s - 1940 (about 70 pieces) 2. Comics - in archival sleeves - about 400. (This collection was in the sale, and about 100 of the original 500 were sold, these are what are left.) I'm not a comic person - but I think they are mostly newer comics. If anyone would like these for their collection, they are yours.
