Michigan Library Jobs Facebook Page
by Rachel 18 Aug '26

18 Aug '26

Hello Michigan Libraries & Library Workers, I am a librarian in Michigan and over the past several years, I collected job postings for fellow job hunters in my MLIS student group, similar to what INALJ or ArchivesGig has. Maintaining a google doc and searching jobs all over the country was cumbersome and time consuming, but I still wanted to help those in the field find jobs. In June, I created a Facebook page called *Michigan Library & Archives Jobs <https://www.facebook.com/mi.lib.arch.jobs>*. On this page, I share varied jobs in public libraries, schools, archives, museums, government agencies, and more that fall into the library/archives/info science field. [image: image.png] Several times a week, I post the newest job listings throughout the state, usually scheduled so a few will post each day. Each post includes the name of the hiring institution (tagged if possible), the job title, whether the position is part time/full time or contract, a link to the posting, and a closing date (when available). If a hiring post is shared on a library's FB, I will share their post. All jobs shared have pay information, with actual numerical pay or pay scale. [image: image.png] I just wanted to share this with everyone, if anyone wants to follow the page to see the postings. Or wants to send postings to be shared. If you have a job posting you would like shared on the page, you can email *mi.lib.arch.jobs(a)gmail.com <mi.lib.arch.jobs(a)gmail.com>*, DM or tag the Facebook page, or submit to the google form linked on the FB page. This FB page is not monetized and I am not asking for any money for posting jobs. *Unfortunately, you do need to be logged into a Facebook account to see the page (though you do not need to follow the page if you are logged into FB). I've investigated other options of sharing, but this works in a way to allow me to post without having to remove old postings and make the project too time consuming to post often. If you have ideas for a complementary way to share that doesn't include a FB account, please reach out. -- Best, Michigan Library & Archives Jobs mi.lib.arch.jobs(a)gmail.com https://www.facebook.com/mi.lib.arch.jobs

Libby Down?
by Michelle Parker 18 Aug '26

18 Aug '26

Hi All, Are other libraries still experiencing issues with the Libby app? It's making us and our patrons verify our library cards when we go to check something out, but the verification process doesn't work. I found this on the OverDrive site, but it says it's resolved (which it isn't for us as of 4:45 pm) [image: image.png] Thanks! Lost Child Procedure / Code Adam Policy
by Bret Boulter 18 Aug '26

18 Aug '26

Hello all, Our Safety Committee recently updated our Lost Child Procedure to incorporate aspects of the Code Adam Program, and subsequently we had a circumstance where the procedure was tested. The procedure was effective and the child was found quickly, but it prompted discussion about whether to publicly disclose the child's name during the search. The official Code Adam Program keeps the child's name secret, but that renders the search more difficult. If other larger libraries (we are a 50,000 square foot, Class VI library) are interested in sharing their policies or ideas on the topic, I'd be glad to compile them and report back. Thank you, -- Bret R Boulter Facilities Manager Traverse Area District Library bboulter(a)tadl.org 231-932-8522 (desk) 231-409-9656 (mobile) *Currently Reading:* *The Andromeda Strain (1969) Michael Crichton*

MeL lag time
by Perri Saunders 18 Aug '26

18 Aug '26

Are any other libraries having lag time issues between their circulation systems and Sierra? We are a DCB 2 library using Atriuum as our circ system. We are seeing a lag between checking in books on Sierra and having that update reflect in Atriuum. I have also noticed a lag between checking out books on Atriuum and that item showing as checked out on MeL. These are new issues in the last couple of weeks, causing questions and a few problems. Neither Atriuum or MeL can quite figure out where the problem lies. I'm open to suggestions! Have a great day! Perri -- Perri Saunders, Director White Pigeon Township Library 102 N. Aram Mrjoian Notable Book Visit
by Cathy Cramner 18 Aug '26

18 Aug '26

Hi, The Corunna Branch of the Community District Library will welcome 2026 Michigan Notable Book author Aram Mrjoian for an author visit and book signing on Tuesday, August 25, at 6 p.m. The event will be held at the Corunna Branch, located at 210 E. Corunna Avenue. Due to limited seating, preregistration is encouraged. Registration is available online at www.mycdl.org/events or by calling the branch at 989-743-4800. Mrjoian is a Michigan native and a creative writing lecturer at the University of Michigan. His debut novel, *Waterline*, is a sweeping family epic that weaves the legacy of the Armenian Genocide into the story of an Armenian American family living on Grosse Ile. *Waterline* centers on the Kurkjian family and its patriarch, Gregor, who survived the Musa Dagh resistance during the Armenian Genocide. More than a century later, Gregor’s descendants continue to grapple with questions of grief, family, and identity when one of his great-granddaughters swims into Lake Michigan with no intention of returning. The Michigan Notable Book Author Tour event offers readers an opportunity to hear directly from Mrjoian about his novel, his writing, and the history and themes that shaped *Waterline*. A book signing will follow the author presentation. This Michigan Notable Book Author Tour event is made possible through funding from The Library of Michigan, The Library of Michigan Foundation, and Michigan Humanities. For more information or to register, visit www.mycdl.org/events or contact the Corunna Branch at 989-743-4800. Thank you, Cathy -- Cathy Cramner, Branch Manager Community District Library 210 E Corunna Ave Corunna, MI 48817 989-743-4800

Ambient RLA Now Live in Libby/OverDrive
by Jim Flury 18 Aug '26

18 Aug '26

All, Katie Strong at OverDrive emailed a bit ago to report that Ambient RLA is now live for patrons in Libby/OverDrive or if not live at the time you are seeing this email/post, will be shortly. Please see the July 23 "Ambient RLA in Libby is coming soon" email below. Attached is a Word doc containing a link to the below referenced Ambient RLA recording, along with the password to use to view the recording. Here is the email from Katie: Happy Tuesday , all! And most importantly HAPPY AMBIENT RELEASE DAY! Ambient RLA Is currently being released across Libby with a gradual roll out. Your patrons should be seeing the update soon if they haven’t already. If you have any questions, please let me know—as requested I’m hoping to set up another office hours in a couple of weeks for libraries to ask any questions that may have come up since release. In addition, as some of you noted the blog post was taken down until launch and should be reposted soon – I’ll resend the link as soon as I have it. Let me know if you need anything else! 😊 Cheers, Katie Jim Flury Technical Services Manager The Library Network 41365 Vincenti Court Novi, MI 48375 248-536-3100, ext 133 Note New Fax Number: 248-716-5584 Note New Email Address:jflury@tln.org From: "Jim Flury" <jflury(a)tln.org> To: "econtent" <econtent(a)lists.tln.org>, "all-tln" <all-tln(a)lists.tln.org>, "econdirectors" <econdirectors(a)lists.tln.org> Sent: Thursday, July 23, 2026 12:45:55 PM Subject: Ambient RLA (Single Sign-On) Feature in Libby App Coming Soon All, For some time we have been looking forward to the rollout of the "RLA Single Sign On" feature in Libby. Originally scheduled to launch in Q1 of 2025, this brand new Libby feature named Ambient RLA is due for release sometime in the next several weeks. Katie Strong at OverDrive's below copied/pasted email provides an excellent overview as to what Ambient RLA is, how it works, and most importantly how it will prove to be of great benefit to your Libby patrons, particularly the below: * Borrowing from a partner library is seamless. Patrons no longer need to manually add their home library card at a partner library. Instead, access to the partner library is granted automatically when a patron borrows or places a hold at a partner collection. Representing Download Destination, Steve Bowers and I attended a recent demo of Ambient RLA with other OD group admins from across the state of MI. All of us are in agreement that Ambient RLA is a great feature that will be welcomed both by Libby patrons as well as library staff. We encourage you to become a beta tester for Ambient RLA. Please click the link below to sign up to be a Libby beta tester. As a reminder, Ambient RLA is at present only for library staff and is not currently available for patrons. * We need Beta testers! I invite you to explore and test these changes for your library in Libby Beta. Your testing will help us make sure the feature rollout is smooth for all your patrons, especially since you know your setup best. If you’re a first-time Libby Beta user, visit [ https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__libbybeta.com_intervie… | https://libbybeta.com/interview/welcome ] , or [ https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__www.surveygizmo.com_s3… | sign up for access to the Beta mobile app ] . If you already have Libby Beta, you’ll see the updates as soon as you launch the app. Katie will be holding "office hours" tomorrow, Friday, July 24 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. to answer all of your questions regarding Ambient RLA. The Zoom link for tomorrow's meeting is below. The meeting will be recorded and the link shared for those who are unable to attend Katie's live presentation tomorrow: [ https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__overdrive.zoom.us_j_98… | https://overdrive.zoom.us/j/98767314280?pwd=b03lldZt9hMHcVnbyb6KQWzsHAr7hP.1 ] Once Ambient RLA is live, we will share a help article and how-to training video about these changes to and improvements in the Libby app. I'm excited to share some forthcoming Libby updates that enhance the user experience at libraries with lending partnerships like yours! * What are lending partnerships? “Lending partnerships” is Libby’s standard term for reciprocal lending agreements (RLA) and digital interlibrary loans. Libraries in a lending partnership network have one or more partner libraries, and their patrons can use their home card to borrow at any partner library. * What’s changing? In this release, many actions involving partner libraries—like finding them in Libby and getting access to borrow—now happen automatically. Lending partnerships are simpler to use, because there's less your patrons need to do to get the benefits. Details and visuals * Patrons with a home card will see a “What’s New” billboard when they update the app * Borrowing from a partner library is seamless. Patrons no longer need to manually add their home library card at a partner library. Instead, access to the partner library is granted automatically when a patron borrows or places a hold at a partner collection. * When a patron runs a search, Libby automatically checks the availability for the results at all partner libraries in the lending partnership network, even if the user has never visited the partner libraries before. Users will be shown the best circulation option, prioritizing loans over holds, across all their saved and partner libraries. * There’s a new, dedicated “Partner Libraries” list in the Libby menu, so patrons can easily see which libraries they have access to with their home card. * In the Manage Loan panel, loans from a partner library have an attribution explaining that the loan was made possible by your lending partnership. Other aspects of your partnership setup aren’t changing. You can still disable holds for partner libraries, give your patrons priority on holds, and choose whether visiting patrons can borrow certain lending models or Lucky Day titles. We plan to release this update in the next few weeks , after we finish testing the changes. In the meantime, please test the changes for yourself in Libby Beta and let us know if you encounter issues for your library. With your help, we can make sure the rollout of this feature is seamless for everyone. As a reminder, this is only for library staff and is not currently available for patrons. Once the new release of the Libby app featuring Ambient RLA is live, we’ll have a help article and how-to training video about these changes. Please let me know if you have any questions.
