Everyone - We've got a bunch of great programs coming up here at the Dearborn Library. - Interested in Mid-Century Modern Architecture Design? Craig McDonald from the Alden B. Dow Home Studio in Midland will be here in-person on Tuesday, June 16th at 6:30pm to talk about his new book *Mid-Century Modern Midland* celebrating the work of Mr. Dow. - Author and Journalist Eric Moskowitz will join us virtually on Tuesday, June 23rd at 6:30pm to talk about his new book *The Longest, Hardest Race: Henry Ford and the Cross-Country Contest That Changed America* . - Michigan Notable Book Author Rob Miller will be here in-person with musician Matthew Smith on Tuesday, July 7th at 6:30pm to talk about his new book about the independent music scene entitled *The Hours Are Long But The Pay Is Low: A Curious Life in Independent Music.* - Limited seats are available for Henry Ford Museum Curator Heather Bruegl's in- person talk on the Freedom Plane Tour (which will be stopping at the Museum during the month of July) on Thursday, July 9th at 6:30pm. - Sportswriter Tom Gage and former Detroit Tiger Alex Avila will be here in-person on Saturday, July 11th at 1:00pm to talk about their new book *Your Detroit Tigers: The Great, The Good, The Top 400.* Copies of the book will be available for purchase. New To MAP: Destination Directory!

All, As you know the Michigan Activity Pass has evolved from its paper based, metro Detroit libraries focused, 20 MAP partner destinations origins in 2007 (have we really been doing this for almost 20 years??? Holy Toledo!!!) to its current statewide, online, 476 MAP partner destinations form of today. Over the years the most common MAP related question Brigette and I have gotten from both library staff and patrons has been "Is there an up to date directory that lists all current MAP partner destinations?" Brigette addressed this question a number of years ago by way of creation and maintenance of three MAP brochures that are available along with the bookmarks, postcards, posters, and other MAP related promotional materials at [ https://tln.org/page/map/#/activity-pass-call-to-action/ | https://tln.org/page/map/#/activity-pass-call-to-action/ ] While the brochures are great, updating them every time a new partner joins MAP is a time consuming process. Thus, Brigette worked with MAP software host LocalHop to come up with a searchable Destination Directory of all active MAP destination partners. The brand new Destination Directory went live while I was on vacation (that's the best kind of project, right?!) and is located here on the MAP website [ https://miactivitypass.org/directory/ | https://miactivitypass.org/directory/ ] The new Destination Directory gives us the ability to bring a new MAP partner to the attention of library patrons and staff immediately upon our entering their information into the admin side of the MAP database. Library makers, registration is open! GoLMCon 2026 is happening! The Guild of Library Makers is hosting its second annual conference at Southfield Public Library on Friday, September 18th, 9am to 4pm (doors open at 8am). This is a free, open event for anyone in library work who's curious about makerspaces. Whether you're just starting to wonder if one might fit your library, or you're already running one and have questions, all library staff are welcome. New this year: Travel Stipends Thanks to support from the Library of Michigan, we're offering $50 travel stipends to the first 20 qualifying attendees who apply. Free access to Dow Gardens - with a Library Card

Hello Library Land- Dow Gardens in Midland announced yesterday that they are hosting "Library Card Nights" during the summer. Residents of Michigan with a Library card can get free access to the gardens. Every person wanting to enter for free must have a library card unless they are under the age of 3. The first night is tonight, but they have another date in July and one in August. Please feel free to share and repost on your social media and notify your patrons. They also have a really fun exhibit that fits with the summer reading theme called "Dinosaurs of the World".
