E vs. J nonfiction books

Hello library land! I'm wondering if anyone has the same issue. We have an E section which is for easy picture books and a Juvenile section for the older kids/strong readers. My quandary is when I have a book that is in between, primarily non-fiction books. We have some easy reading biographies (like the Little Golden Books Biography series) that are too easy/short/basic for the J non-fiction, but putting them in with the E picture books (which are 99% fiction) doesn't seem right. I was considering creating a separate shelf in the E section for these non-fiction books. Am I overthinking this? For reference, our E books are in separate "bins" (like at a record store) and are sorted by the first letter of the author's last name, not alphabetically on a shelf. The book that got me thinking was Comet Chaser by Pamela Turner (9781452145433). They have project for Library Card Sign-Up Week that's really cool: My name is Jacquelyn Green, I am the Circulation Coordinator at a library in Indianapolis, Indiana. I am trying to collect as many inactive (blank) library cards as possible. We (The Circulation Manager and I) are working on a project for the upcoming Library Card Sign-up Month and would love to add one of yours to our collection. Library makers, registration is open! GoLMCon 2026 is happening! The Guild of Library Makers is hosting its second annual conference at Southfield Public Library on Friday, September 18th, 9am to 4pm (doors open at 8am). This is a free, open event for anyone in library work who's curious about makerspaces. Whether you're just starting to wonder if one might fit your library, or you're already running one and have questions, all library staff are welcome. New this year: Travel Stipends Thanks to support from the Library of Michigan, we're offering $50 travel stipends to the first 20 qualifying attendees who apply. To qualify, you must: - Be a current employee of a Michigan library - Be driving more than 50 miles from your home to Southfield Public Library - Not be receiving mileage reimbursement from your library for this trip A map showing the 50-mile driving radius from Southfield Public Library is attached. Applying for a stipend is separate from registration.
