Are you looking for a new library website solution?

Ploud (Public Libraries in the Cloud) is a feature-rich and easy to use library-specific website template used in a variety of states. Over 100 libraries in Michigan use Ploud. * It includes an advanced calendar, carousels, the ability to use drag and drop elements to create your own page layouts, Google mapping for your library location, and many more bonuses. Event registration software is currently in Beta. * There is a minimal price tag for the libraries with the remainder of the cost paid for with Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) dollars. This year, the cost to each library will be $200. LM conducts full-day, regional training around the state in the fall. The vendor maintains a help desk year round. * Ploud provides an easy-to-learn, easy-to-update website template with four different themes ("looks") that each have between four and a dozen color schemes. It is designed for libraries without specialized technology staff but it is easily expandable for libraries that wish to do more. Most libraries who use Ploud are single buildings but Michigan has several library systems with multiple branches who make good use of Ploud. * The technology "heavy lifting" of versioning, programming, security, and product updates is done by the vendor, Enfold Systems. * You can view more about Ploud at http://www.michlibrary.org/. Wonderful Program

If anyone is looking for a wonderful program at their Library with a music theme consider having Peter Bergin. Peter is a piano player and did a wonderful job in Big Rapids playing Ragtime in a concert in February. I have had several patrons ask when he is going to come back and do another concert for us. He doesn't just play Ragtime, he does a variety of music and can bring his own piano and sound equipment with him. Adult Summer Reading Programs

Utilizing space

Hello, everyone. I have a question for those of you who have small, two-story buildings. I have a two-story building. The top floor holds the collection, and is nearly full. The bottom floor is currently unused; but people in the community have been asking whether it is available for use. There will soon be a need for inside programming, which our top floor cannot currently My question is how have you utilized your limited space? Would you describe your layout? Where are your collections located? How do you handle inside programming? Have you made any of the area multi-purpose use? Here's the compiled responses: Kelly, I have used Bessenberg Bindery out of Dexter for binding old books. They do a very professional job and they are not outrageous. If you don't wish to move forward, they'll simply return. If you wish to move forward, they'll give you an estimated date of completion and let you know when the item is ready.
