Forensic Artist Program
by Stephen Jackman 08 Apr '22

08 Apr '22

Hello all, Last night we hosted Lt. Sarah Krebs of Michigan State Police to talk about her 20-year career as a forensic artist. The program was well-attended: we had 50 people in a room that can seat up to 75! Lt. Krebs was everything you want in a presenter: informative, personable, and entertaining. Afterward multiple patrons came up to me to say thank you for the program. Since she works for the state she cannot accept monetary compensation for her time and efforts, but she's happy to do it for free. You can reach her at this email address: [ KrebsS(a)michigan.gov ]( mailto:KrebsS@michigan.gov ) Let me know if you have any questions! Library Outreach for Kids - Fun Idea suggestions?
by Lorry Traver 07 Apr '22

07 Apr '22

Hi all, I am having a few outreach events over the summer and wanted to know if there were any super clever or creative, or maybe even simple but still fun, activities you like to do at outreach events? I will have library card applications along with newsletters and flyers, but aside from that I wanted to provide a short experience for the kids, whether it be yard games, rubber ducks in a pool with a prize awarded, etc. Thank you - my brain is already mush and summer reading hasn't even started yet. -- "You're never too old, too wacky, too wild, to pick up a book and read to a child." - Dr. Seuss *Lorry Traver* Youth Services Coordinator Ruth Hughes Memorial District Library 211 N. Hey all, I'm searching for oversized classroom books, 11x17" to make perfect copies for our story walk in the park this summer. The one perfectly sized book we have is called Walpole, and the setting is on icecaps. I'd like something better suited for the summer. If you know of any or have anything I can Mel request, please let me know. Thanks, everyone. Erica Gentz Assistant Director Colon Township Library (269) 432-3958 office
