Blind patron navigation emails
by Katharine Lion 18 May '26

18 May '26

Hello, I keep getting these very similarly worded emails by different accounts and am thinking they might be spam but wanted to see if any other library are getting these? I responded to the first one without any response back. I want to take them seriously if they are not spam. Thanks for your suggestions! ex: *I may want to stop by Bridgman Library at some point, so I wanted to send a quick note as a blind future visitor.* *For me, an independent library visit would mean more than being welcomed inside. It would mean understanding the layout enough to find the main areas I need with dignity and confidence.* *Could your team ever consider something that helps with that?* -- *Katharine Lion* Marketing & Graphics Specialist bridgmanlibrary.com (269)-465-3663

Notaries in libraries responses
by Katrina Rogers 18 May '26

18 May '26

Most libraries that had patrons using notary services offered those services on evenings and/or weekends, and didn't have many places locally where people could get paperwork notarized. Most charged a few dollars per signature, and some didn't charge at all. A few people pointed out that notaries are personally liable if they make a mistake while notarizing documents, so I don't think I'm going to pursue that at this time. One library had a lawyer who was also a notary offer to volunteer one evening plus one weekend a month to notarize documents for patrons, so I might consider something like that in the future. Thanks for all the responses!
