Author's Showcase event recommendations
by Jean Fellows 02 Nov '22

02 Nov '22

We held our first post (-ish) covid Author's Showcase last night from 6-8 pm, featuring 10 Michigan authors. Many were from the Lansing area-- but a few came from farther afield. The theme was "Writing the Dark-- Mystery, Murder, & the Supernatural". We had 30+folks in attendance who stayed to chat with the authors after their presentations. I would recommend all the authors for any such events you might be considering. See the attached for names.* Andrea Lawless* joined us late and is not featured on the sign; *Shetan* was ill and had to cancel, but we'd hosted her before and she's a fun author on supernatural subjects. If you need contact info, I can send that too-- some of them are hard to find! -- Jean Fellows (she/hers) Programming Coordinator Grand Ledge Area District Library 131 E. Jefferson St., Grand Ledge, MI 48837 517-627-7014 *The Grand Ledge Area District Library is situated on ancestral, traditional and contemporary lands of the Anishinaabeg – Three Fires Confederacy of Ojibwe, Odawa and Potawatomi peoples land ceded in the 1819 Treaty of Saginaw.*

Sad lamps

Hello all, Do any of your libraries circulate these? And if so, do you require a waiver to be signed beforehand, due to possible adverse side effects for folks who are bipolar (can potentially cause lack of sleep, thus triggering a manic episode) or who suffer from eye problems such as glaucoma, etc? And if you do utilize a waiver, would you be willing to advise on content? We have bought one, and would like to circulate it, and are doing our 'due diligence' on the matter. Thank you in advance for your time! (And apologies if we've already discussed this!) ~Deb Craig Circulation Services Willard Public Library 7 W. Van Buren Ave. Battle Creek, Mi. 49015

Tape/Adhesive for STEM Kits
by Anna Merritt 01 Nov '22

01 Nov '22

Hello, We use these clear clip bins<https://www.amazon.com/STERILITE-19638606-Aquarium-Latches-pieces/dp/B01MS4…> for our STEM Kits and we are having a tough time getting our clear packaging tape to stick to the top of the lid. The lid has a texture to it and tape keeps peeling off. Does anyone have any recommendations for clear tape/adhesive for securing labels to these types of bins? Thanks!
