Free Zoom Event--Join us!
by Betsy Myers 14 Nov '23

14 Nov '23

Are you just sitting at home tonight with nothing to do? Join us tonight with Heather Bruegl on Zoom at 6:30pm. Heather Bruegl spoke with us earlier in the year and we felt it was important she was invited back during National Native American Heritage Month. Her program, "We Are Still Here: A Contemporary Indigenous Perspective" focuses on awareness that indigenous people did not just disappear with westward expansion. Native groups remained strong and vibrant communities who continue to fight for sovereignty and justice. Learn about contemporary issues in Indian Country today including the #MMIW (Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women) epidemic, the fight to protect our Earth, and the continued fight for sovereignty. So, please take some time and join us tonight. Here is a direct link to register: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_coFiNI3LRl-87k2ChyRtOw#/registr… See you there! -- *Betsy Myers* Reference Department Interlibrary Loan/Programming *Traverse Area District Library* 610 Woodmere Ave Traverse City, MI 49686 231 932-8502

registrations/managing no-shows
by Jean Fellows 13 Nov '23

13 Nov '23

Hello all: We struggle with folks who register for events-- and then don't cancel, they just don't show up. Registrations fill up, folks who want to can't register-- and we end up with some empty seats/materials left over. We used to use a "wait list" function-- but a.) our calendaring software was unable to process a short-notice cancellation and notify the wait list that a spot had opened and b.) People don't cancel-- they just straight up don't show up. We've updated our email reminders to nicely stress the importance of canceling, and we've stealth boosted our slots by 10%-- and still.... Anyone else have this problem? Any ideas? -- Jean Fellows (she/hers) Programming Coordinator Grand Ledge Area District Library 131 E. by Lancaster, Cathy (MDE) 13 Nov '23

13 Nov '23

For the last three years, it has been a pleasure to serve your organization and constituents by providing creative, timely and supportive emotional health resources through the Stay Well program. Stay Well started as a federal grant program established to provide behavioral and emotional support programming during the COVID-19 pandemic. During those unprecedented times we were pleased to provide numerous webinars, toolkits, videos and materials to Michiganders and organizations that benefitted from those resources. With the ending of the public health emergency, the Stay Well program will be discontinued effective December 31. Live programming will continue through November and December. Please share<https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1tY0ZKsvlKtWau-MfJKB1JHxFeCtR1GZ2?us…> with the adults, teens and children you serve that these final live webinars are scheduled and registration is open (see flyers<https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1tY0ZKsvlKtWau-MfJKB1JHxFeCtR1GZ2?us…>): * Coping with Grief and Loss - Mondays<https://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZAuf-qrqz4qGtCbVOGiofyGK9rOyBAJnG…> at 6 p.m., Wednesdays<https://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZUrdeGrpz0tHtVP_vE56dv_Ml8f01Cb66…> at noon - series concludes Nov. 8. * Coping with Grief and Loss through the Holidays - Mondays<https://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZ0vcuGprTkvHdfa4djCfPCYn4NzBgh5HN…> at 6 p.m., Wednesdays<https://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZwudOigqzsoGtJTx7ZUBBuWZyRCKMqomb…> at noon - series runs from Nov. 27 through Dec. 20. * Addictions and the Impact of COVID-19 - Tuesdays<https://us06web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_YsJk9fn2SkK4PPub5cBtzw?_x_zm_rt…> at noon. Final series<https://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZIqcOquqT4rG9b-jI_q5HKtGo2mZSfB7t…> will run Nov. 25 through Dec. 16. All the Stay Well resources, including recorded webinars and workshops, wellness videos and downloadable teaching tools, will still be available on the MDHHS website<https://www.michigan.gov/coronavirus/resources/mental-health-resources>. We hope you will use this archive to continue to offer virtual education and support to your constituents. We also still have a supply of free Stay Well stickers, posters and brochures. The items remaining in our inventory are listed on this webpage<https://www.michigan.gov/coronavirus/resources/mental-health-resources/item…>, where you'll find the latest order form. Place orders before Dec. 31 to address needs for the coming year. Be assured that these resources will remain useful and relevant; the QR codes on some items lead to MDHHS behavioral resources, which will include the Stay Well archived resources. Without your partnership, the Stay Well program would not have found the success it did. From all of us here at Stay Well, thank you for three years of open and honest feedback, partnership, and steadfast support! Taylor Swift Program Question
by Lorry Traver 10 Nov '23

10 Nov '23

Hi all, I know many libraries have had Taylor Swift parties at this point, and I am curious what those libraries did for promotional flyers. I am struggling to find an image of Taylor I can use on the flyer that does not violate copyright, unless I am misunderstanding the copyright for something like this. Could someone either help me understand copyright on this, or perhaps send me flyer examples of what you made for your Swiftie library program? Thank you! -- “It is not true that we have only one life to live; if we can read, we can live as many more lives and as many kinds of lives as we wish.” – S.I.
