The Benton Harbor Public Library is seeking a Library Circulation Supervisor. This position will be front of the house, and is best suited to someone who loves working with people and has strong customer service skills. This is a full time (37.5 hours) a week position with a starting rate of $17.00-$20.00/hr depending on experience. Other benefits include paid time off and the ability to participate in the library’s Retirement Plan. This person will work directly under the supervision of the Head of the Adult and Junior Departments and the Director. Job Duties: - Waits on patrons at the circulation desk and is able to perform all clerk duties as necessary. - Check library application forms against data entry that is completed by other circulation staff. - Train and supervise circulation staff. - Works together with the Head of the Adult Department to order books for the collection - Reconcile cash drawer. - Resolve disputes with patrons concerning overdue, lost and damaged items, directing unresolved issues to the Library Director or designee as necessary. - Oversees printing and mailing of overdue lists. - Enters department schedules into the online calendar. - Is in charge of the development and creation of displays. - Acts as the point person for Inter-library loan requests (through MelCat and OCLC). - Maintains the library's magazine subscriptions. - Works with the Adult Programming person to develop passive programming in the Adult Department. - Acts as the overall library supervisor in the absence of the Director and Department Heads. - Other duties as assigned. Requirements: - Hold an MLIS (or equivalent degree from an ALA accredited program) or currently enrolled in an ALA accredited Master’s Degree Program in the field of Library Science and expected to complete the program within 1-1.5 years. - Reliable transportation. - Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the job. There is considerable walking, bending, standing, lifting, as well as pushing and pulling carts, cleaning and maintenance, and moving equipment. - Proficient computer and technological skills and at least two years experience using Microsoft products, multi-line phone systems, fax and copy machines, smart devices and tablets. Library software is a plus. - Enjoys working with people and strong customer service skills. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. - Superior attention to detail. Juneteenth National Independence Day, the most recent addition to that list, commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. Grand Opening for outdoor musical instruments

Hello! You're invited!...to the Grand Opening event for our newly installed outdoor musical instruments (from Percussion Play Ltd. https://www.percussionplay.com/) Sunday, June 11, 1-3 p.m. Hopefully, they'll all be in the ground by June 11! (Only half are in so far...yup, I'm at the freak out stage...but they're so cool, it'll still be worth your while to attend even with only half of them in!) See the attached flyer for more details...especially note that Drummunity is coming for a community drumming circle on Main Street and we'll be jamming with the high school jazz band! The project is funded by a bequest from a Morenci native who loved music so this is an especially fitting tribute. If you can't make it to the Grand Opening, stop by any time...whether or not we're open! Library Services Director - Nashville Public Library (TN) The Nashville Public Library (TN)<https://library.nashville.org/> seeks a visionary leader, demonstrated advocate, and authentic communicator as its next Library Services Director. Named Library of the Year by Library Journal (2017) and having received the Institute of Museum and Library Services National Medal (2010), NPL has a long history of excellence in service and continues this tradition through projects like the Civil Rights Room and Collection, Votes for Women Room and Collection, Bringing Books to Life program, and its Limitless Libraries partnership with Metro Nashville Public Schools. The Director will be responsible for a $40 million operating budget, 406 FTE, 21 branches, and collaborating with the Nashville Public Library Foundation which has raised more than $60 million dollars to help the library impact literacy, life skills, and connections. Reporting to the seven-member Board, Board Chair, with general directions from the Mayor of Nashville, and working with the Metro Nashville Council - the Library Services Director is a team player helping to inspire reading, advance learning, and connect Nashville residents. Board members are appointed by the Mayor and Council for seven-year terms and serve, primarily, as a policymaking body. Key initiatives include guiding the library through facilities and strategic planning processes, developing a broad and transparent organizational culture, and advocating for intellectual freedom at the local and state levels. Situated on the Cumberland River, Nashville, TN has a joyful balance of nature, culture, music, and people, which is why the metro region is the fourth largest in the Southeast and the fastest growing in the nation. Known as Music City and the Athens of the South, the area has over 180 recording studios, 100+ live music clubs, 80+ record labels, and thirteen universities which include four historically black colleges and universities. Nashville is home to twenty distinct neighborhoods, each offering its own take on the music, food, and hospitality for which the region is famous. The Country Music Hall of Fame, Frist Art Museum, and Nashville Zoo are destination attractions along with three professional sports teams. Responsibilities: The Director oversees programs, resources, and services provided by the Metropolitan Public Library system; confers with the Mayor's staff and other Metro Department Heads as needed; provides leadership and supervises division heads; works with division heads to develop and sustain a culture that embraces change and innovation; serves on community boards, appears on various panels, and accepts public speaking requests; develops and presents a budget to local officials; directs planning and setup of new library facilities and remodeling of existing facilities; works collaboratively with the Library Board and Library Foundation to increase community support and donations; and collaborates with division heads and Metro DEI leaders to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion strategies in Library services and workplace culture. Qualifications: A master's degree in Library Science or master's degree in a Library Science field, degree must be accredited by the American Library Association (ALA) from an accredited college or university and nine (9) years of professional library experience, including six (6) years of experience managing and directing the work of a major library's functions. Some experience in a public library required. The ideal candidate will possess political acumen, skill in articulating a vision to lead and inspire others, significant administrative experience, and will put the library customer first. These 2023 Millage Rate Comparison Reports are intended to be used by municipalities to verify the accuracy of the eligible millage rates to be used in their 2023 PPT reimbursement calculations. How to Review the 2023 Millage Rate Comparison Reports: * Verify Individual Millage Rate(s) Levied in 2022 * Municipalities should compare the individual millage rate(s) levied in 2022 on the 2023 Millage Rate Comparison Reports with the millage rates reported on their 2022 Form 614 - Tax Rate Request (L-4029). * Each millage rate reported on the 2022 Form 614 should be listed on the 2023 Millage Rate Comparison Reports (excluding special assessments). * Verify Calculated Millage Rate Used in the Computation * The calculated millage rates to be used in the 2023 PPT reimbursement calculations should equal the lesser of the eligible millage cap and the 2022 millage rate. * The Millage Rate Calculation tab of the Excel workbook provides information about how each eligible millage rate is calculated. * NOTE: Calculated eligible millage rates may be prorated and thus may not reflect the actual millage rates levied by the municipality. When NO Millage Rate Errors Are Identified: If a municipality does not identify an error in the 2023 Millage Rate Comparison Reports, the municipality does not need to file a form or take any further action to notify Treasury.
