[CSLP Color Our World Program Submission Contest]<https://www.cslpreads.org/submit-a-programming-idea/> Help us Color Our World : Colorea Nuestro Mundo in 2025 by submitting your brilliant, fun, and educational programs for 2025's manual! CSLP is running a contest for the most creatively unique program ideas around the 2025 theme, Color Our World, submitted by public library staff. The contest will run from now until September 30th, 2023. We want your ideas that are filled with all the colors! Our very own Managing Editor, Alyssa Graybeal, will choose one program from each category (children, teens, and adults), and one contributor of early literacy books and songs that best captures the theme. Program ideas submitted with photos (that the submitter owns the copyright to or are proven copyright free) have the highest chances of winning. The winner in each category will get a coupon for $50 worth of merchandise in our store. You can purchase some great Adventure Begins at Your Library merchandise for 2024! Two Program Recommendations

In case he hasn't yet reached market saturation in the library world, I want to give a shout-out to amateur historian Larry Martin (lmww2.com) for his World War II In Their Own Words program. He recently presented his interview with Fred Bahlau to our patrons, and despite some technical problems, it was well-received. Larry is very friendly and knowledgeable, and his interviews are fascinating. I also recommend Brian Rose (bgrosepresents.com) Brian, a professor emeritus at Fordham University, gives Zoom lectures on film and television history. He gave a presentation about the history of the Walt Disney Company for us last month, and it was fun and interesting. He offers webinars on many topics; we're having him back to discuss censorship in Hollywood later this month. "I read everything. Film Club Suggestions

Hello, Our library has been hosting a film club for adults since Fall 2022 and I'm already having trouble coming up with new titles. At first, it was a Classics Film Club, so we pulled from the AFI 100's List, but after a few meetings, a lot of the conversation around "is it a classic" became repetitive. So, we expanded to what might be considered Modern Classics. If there is anyone who also hosts movie discussions for adults, please pass along any titles that you have had success with. If there is enough interest, I'd be happy to start a Google Doc with titles and feedback to share! Looking for storyteller for Festival of Stories events

We are planning a Festival of Stories throughout October, and am having a difficult time finding someone who could present a program on traditional storytelling. Michigan Library Association Silent Auction info

The Michigan Library Association (MLA) will be hosting a silent auction at our Annual Conference October 18-20, 2023 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Proceeds from the auction will benefit the MLA Scholarship Fund and MLA's Equity Grant Fund. We are asking for donations of any kind to this auction: library bling, vendor give-a-ways, new books, posters, a weekend stay in a fabulous location, basically anything which could either stand alone as an auction item or could be placed in a basket along with other items.
