Subject: Job Opening: Temporary Substitute Librarian Position We are excited to announce a temporary substitute librarian position at the Chesterfield Township Library. This is a great opportunity for individuals passionate about libraries and serving the community. If you or someone you know is interested, we invite you to apply for this position. The Substitute Librarian plays an important role at our public service desk, assisting with information requests and readers advisory. They also help patrons access library resources and services. The substitute librarian fills in hours to cover the library service desk in times when it can not be covered by other librarians. Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited institution. State of Michigan Level I or II Librarian Certificate or ability to obtain same. Possess knowledge of library best practices services and automated systems. Possess knowledge of library classification and how information is organized. Ability to clearly and effectively communicate, both in person and remotely, including via telephone. Knowledge of basic office equipment and standard business software (word processing, spreadsheets, Internet browsers, etc.) compensation: $18.92 an hour to $24.32 per hour on 11 step scale. Schedule: as needed, but most likely on evenings and Saturdays. The MacDonald Public Library is searching for an Access Services Specialist. This position oversees the daily operation and management of the library’s circulation, reserves, and collection access functions. In addition to providing excellent customer service to all library visitors, this position assists groups and individuals with their various information needs through reference and instruction services, maintaining library collections, purchasing items for designated collections, and offering programs. A full job description is available. This is a full-time, 40 hours per week position. Pay ranges from $17 to $19.50 per hour based on qualifications. Library of Michigan Public Library Financial Management - 3rd Cohort application open!

The 3rd Round of the Public Library Financial Management Cohort is open! The first two cohorts have been a great success, thanks in large part to the great work by the participants. If you have managerial financial responsibilities and want to learn more about public library financial management, please review the information below and sign up! The Library of Michigan works to provide library specific administrative training for public library staff. As part of this goal, LM is working with the University of Georgia's Carl Vinson Institute of Government to provide a public library financial management certificate program for a cohort of up to 30 public library staff members. Recommended participants are public library directors, budget administrators, and other public library staff with managerial financial management responsibilities. The cohort is a one-year series of classes focused on governmental financial accounting and policy development. The cohort does not include software or basic accounting instruction. The 3rd Cohort group timeline is October 2023 through September 2024. The Library Financial Management Certification Program includes six online courses: * Budgeting for Libraries * Purchasing * Governmental Accounting for Libraries * Internal Control for Libraries * Payroll Administration * Writing Financial Policies The Library of Michigan is underwriting the program costs.
