Hey everyone (it's me again), Please feel welcome to make a copy of this MAP brochure I made in Canva <https://www.canva.com/design/DAFtl6Hwcpc/2lEixSPmVqwpWn5uMqrVbQ/edit?utm_co…>, for your library; it's in MAP's new branding. Please make a copy for yourself without making any edits in the file I'm sharing so that others can use it too, please and thanks! Once you've made a copy, make whatever changes you like, it will not hurt my feelings at all! By the way, it's super easy to make a copy of a file in Canva, go to *FILE > MAKE A COPY. (If you access the file and it looks like someone customized it, let me know and I'll fix it)* Also, feel free to switch out the highlighted locations if you'd like to. I randomly selected destinations to feature. I also left off our logo, so you do not have to worry about removing that. If you have a copy machine that does tri-folds, this should line up perfectly when you tell it to fold in the finishing area when going to print. If you are a part of other co-ops in the State, feel welcome to share this with them, if you want to! Summer Reading Survey Reminder Closes TODAY- Win SWAG!

We still invite you to fill out the survey even if you did not use "All Together Now" as your theme. After the survey closes, we will randomly select 5 MI libraries to win logoed MeL playing cards! The audience for the survey is public library staff who played an active role in administering or running 2023 summer library programming. One person per library could fill it out, or multiple library staff from the same library could complete the sections of the survey most relevant to their work; e.g. children, teen, or adult programs. * Please coordinate with your colleagues on who will fill it out, especially if you are in a multi-branch system. * This does NOT need to be filled out by Directors. (Adult/YA/Children program overseers can complete their own portions.) Is this survey required? No, it is not required, but we would appreciate your input. Every library that responds helps us get a more accurate picture of overall satisfaction with the program. I want to be prepared. Join MCLS Thursday for a Virtual Dialogue!

The next MCLS Virtual Dialogue is next week and we hope to see you there! Join the Midwest Collaborative for Library Services on Thursday, September 14, from 10:30 a.m. to noon Eastern (9:30-11 a.m. Central) as we continue discussing components of a growth mindset. We will talk about how to determine and frame success, and how to celebrate once we've achieved that success. Whether you've attended multiple Virtual Dialogues or if this would be your first, we invite you to be part of the conversation. MCLS Virtual Dialogues aren't your traditional webinar or online workshop experience. Instead, the MCLS team facilitates an engaging and supportive space where library workers from different experience levels and library types discuss the topic through guided questions. The questions are created to encourage participants to think about how they can build on their strengths and find new ways of thinking about issues. We believe the answers are in the room, and we find that participants walk away feeling connected, inspired, and rejuvenated. The Library of Michigan is seeking currently enrolled students to join our team! These are in-person part time positions of up to 24 hours per week. Position: Student Assistant (Part-time) Pay: $13.50/hour Hours: 20 to 24 hours per week, Mon-Fri between 8am and 5pm, with occasional Saturday hours Location: Library of Michigan, 702 W. Kalamazoo St, Lansing MI (in person position) Deadline: Open until filled EDUCATION: Current enrollment in vocational or technical school, or post-secondary educational institution. The student must provide evidence of enrollment or acceptance to an educational institution. DESCRIPTION: General Student Assistant duties include shelving books, scanning library materials, processing library materials, and assisting with mail sorting and distribution. Many of the assignments require various computer software, and some tasks are repetitious in nature. This position requires careful attention to detail, good computer skills, and the ability to quickly learn new software. Student Assistants are assigned to one of the following areas, in addition to the general duties described above. 1) Processing and MeLCat - The majority of the work will involve processing, labeling and rehousing of library materials, shelving books, assisting with MeLCat work, using our ILS system (FOLIO) to check out materials to borrowing libraries and patrons, creating patron accounts in FOLIO, and processing and packaging incoming and outgoing library materials. 2) Law Library (within the Library of Michigan) - Duties will predominantly entail assisting the Law Staff in administrative and clerical functions within the State Law Library such as shelving books, collection maintenance, and filing. 3) Digitization - Duties include scanning print documents using a variety of scanners and processing files to prepare them for loading into the digital asset manager. This can include image editing, file renaming and organizing, running optical character recognition software, and data processing.
