Reader Zone helps schools and libraries host amazing digital reading programs. Their flexible approach has us partnering with them to extend their offerings to CSLP’s annually themed program. If your library uses the Reader Zone platform, you have access to a provided default CSLP program with preprogrammed CSLP badges. Or you may opt to create your own unique program within Reader Zone and use your choice of CSLP-themed badges from the CSLP Toolbox<https://cslpreads.us13.list-manage.com/track/click?u=043a7515ceb3ad45bdd2dd…>. In order to further enhance the user experience, libraries can choose to match the digital badges in Reader Zone with our Brag Tags from School Life. The Create Value Pack<https://cslpreads.us13.list-manage.com/track/click?u=043a7515ceb3ad45bdd2dd…> images are located within the CSLP Toolbox. Funded by the USDA, this program provides free meals to children ages 0–18 in communities with high levels of need. Libraries and SUN Meals are a natural fit. Libraries are trusted, welcoming spaces that offer free, high-quality services for all. They provide safe environments where children and teens are encouraged to learn, explore, and engage through programs and activities. Hosting SUN Meals offers many benefits for libraries, too: * Reach new user groups, including underserved and marginalized populations * Boost visibility and position the library as a key community resource * Build new partnerships with local organizations * Contribute to positive outcomes for youth and community well-being * Support and enhance summer programming with increased attendance * Reduce behavioral issues through better engagement and nourishment Beginning in 2024, SUN Meals sites in low-income rural areas can now offer SUN Meals To-Go—allowing for offsite (grab-and-go) distribution of meals and snacks. This flexible model helps reduce barriers for families in rural areas to access nutritious food. Want to get started? The CSLP’s newly updated 2025 Libraries and Summer Food how-to guide<https://cslpreads.us13.list-manage.com/track/click?u=043a7515ceb3ad45bdd2dd…> walks you through the essentials—from becoming a SUN Meals site to forming partnerships and planning for a successful summer. SEMLOL Spring Meeting
by Heidi Keppen Palmer 28 Mar '25

28 Mar '25

Hello All, We would like to invite you to attend the Southeastern Michigan League of Libraries, (SEMLOL <http://www.semlol.org/>) 2025 Spring Meeting on April 8th from 2-4pm on Zoom. During this meeting, we will be having a member of the Data Rescue Project <https://www.datarescueproject.org/> team in to give a brief overview of the Project and their mission. After that, they will be walking us through the nuts and bolts of doing data rescue and/or metadata clean-up events so that you will be able to run these yourself. The final 30-40 minutes of our meeting will be dedicated to getting to work on doing some data rescue and metadata clean-up of our own! We will break out into Zoom rooms to discuss further issues if you don’t feel ready to begin, with one room left open for those who are ready to begin doing active work where they can pop in and ask questions as needed. You do not need to be a librarian to join us for this meeting or to be a great help to this Project! While this work is a great fit for the skill set of librarians, there is a lot of work to be done that does not require any advanced technical expertise, so please share widely with those you know to be interested in ensuring continued access to public data. We hope to see you all there as we work together on this timely matter! Please register using this Google Form <https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSd8zis723UOLwVsrJ7P0ZPY0R6t8a15zbz…> so we can send you the link to our meeting.
