Join us for an evening with Dr. Blaire Morseau. In her talk, she will present an examination of the thousands of years of Indigenous knowledge that Pokagon elevated in his stories. For this occasion, the Clarke's collection of Pokagon's birch bark books will be on exhibit. Blaire Morseau is a citizen of the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi with ancestral ties to the Grand River Bands of Ottawa, and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Religious Studies at Michigan State University. 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 29 Sarah and Daniel Opperman Auditorium, Charles V. The Mid-Michigan Digital Practitioners (M-MDP) will convene for another fall conference. Join us Thursday, November 14th at the Library of Michigan in Lansing for a full day of presentations, idea sharing, and networking. Hi everyone, Michigan Humanities will be hosting our Great Michigan Read Author Reunion this Thursday! This event features Beth Nguyen, Kevin Boyle, Steve Luxenberg, Kekla Magoon, Dr. Mona Hanna, Mary Doria Russell, and Angeline Boulley. In a conversation moderated by Bill Castanier, these authors will come together to discuss the ways that literature is critical to building empathy and understanding. This event takes place October 24, 6:30 p.m., at the Pasant Theatre at the Wharton Center for Performing Arts in East Lansing. A book signing with the featured authors will follow the panel conversation; Schuler Books will be on site with copies for purchase. This event will also serve as the announcement of the 10th Great Michigan Read title. Admission to this event is free, but registration is required. Hi Michlib! Baldwin recently hosted the State Director of the Mufon, or Mutual UFO Network, Bill Konkolesy. His presentation was UFO Disclosure Right Now? Bill discussed the current state of affairs regarding our Government and the UFO?UAP phenomenon. He was personable, knowledgeable and engaging. The presentation was well attended and he answered questions for about 40 minutes after his hour presentation ended. I highly recommend Bill for your library. Hello Library Land, Last year, we hired Seriously Funny Biz to offer photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus during our Downtown Adrian holiday celebration. Tami was great to work with and quick with set up and tear down. They even brought coloring pages. The kids (and adults) had a great time. This year we have hired them again for their new Magical Merry Christmas Experience which includes stories, songs, and magic. Mrs. Claus can also offer facepainting! Seriously Funny Biz has been hired by other libraries and businesses in our area for their Murder Mystery adventures, Lily the Easter Bunny, and Missy the Clown characters and shows.
