Township Auction- Shelving, Desks, etc

Hi all, Our Township is auctioning off much of what was left in our old building. Our new building opened in 2022 and we took virtually nothing but the collection, supplies and computers with us. Up for auction are large amounts of library shelving, service desks, employee cubicles, library furniture and more. These items are very used, but the shelving is mostly in good condition and might help out a library in need. Starting bids for some of these items are just a few dollars and most are sold in lots. FYI, the information for our 3M security gates says that they are operational. They are not. The auction will go live on September 17th and remain open for two days. Business Operations Specialist Posting- Northville District Library

The Northville District Library seeks an enthusiastic, organized, and initiative-taking candidate for a full-time position in the Library’s Administration Department. Position: Business Operations Specialist 40 Hours per week This is a non-union position Salary Range: $46,134.40-$71,115.20 based upon prior work experience. Benefits: Health Insurance (medical, dental and vision), disability insurance, and MERS retirement pension plan and 457 account. Paid time off includes sick, vacation, holiday, and personal business time. Essential Duties Include: * Handles payment for Library expenditures. * Oversee incoming cash, checks, and charges. * Carries out procedures for accurately checking library materials in and out of integrated library system. * Handles annual and special projects related to financial and legal requirements. * Processes incoming monetary donations and prepares donor correspondence * Manages payroll and fringe benefits. * Assists with hiring and onboarding process. * Keeps up with current HR trends and best practices. * Provides administrative support to Board of Trustees and all of their meetings * Orders library supplies. * Handles meeting room reservation for the public. * Schedules vendors for maintenance and repair work on library’s facility, grounds, and equipment. * Performs related duties as assigned. Required Qualifications: * Bachelor’s degree in business administration or human resources * Three years of experience performing similar duties. * Ability to adapt to change in the work environment. * Ability to prioritize duties and tasks. * Ability to create new procedures incorporating new technologies as applicable. * Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion related to library and employee records. * Demonstrates attention to detail. * Excellent interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills. * Strong organizational skills. * Knowledge and proficiency in working with computers. * Possess critical thinking skills. * Works well under pressure and can meet tight deadlines. * Works well with fellow team members. Preferred Qualifications: * Previous library experience performing similar duties. Hello all, These computer desks are amazing, but unfortunately no longer amazing in our space. Measuring at 7' in diameter these desk sets make great workspaces. The opening in the center will accommodate up to a 12"x12" column. Use in a round as shown, 2 against a wall or individually in a corner. We have two sets of these available. Take one or both. Absolutely free to the first person(s) who can pick up & load. We are open T-F 9am-7pm or Saturdays 10am-4pm. They are located on our second floor, but we do have an elevator for easy hauling. Presenter Recommendation: Abi Fergus, Conservationist

In June, CADL South Lansing hosted Abi Fergus for the presentation “Wildlife with Abi” where they reviewed their experiences with tracking wildlife and exhibited different materials they found in the field. Abi is a great presenter for anyone interested in putting on programs about the outdoors- tracking, foraging, conservation- for all ages. They can be contacted at abigail.fergus(a)gmail.com<mailto:abigail.fergus@gmail.com>. More details: “My name is Abi Fergus (they/them) and I am a conservationist living in the Ann Arbor area. I relocated back to Michigan this year after living in the Lake Superior region of Wisconsin for 6 years. During that time I worked for Tribes in wildlife conservation and food sovereignty employment, freelance, and volunteer positions. I also lived remotely and rustically in the woods for three years heating my home with wood and learning outdoor skills. I have offered classes on wildlife tracking, foraging, and food as medicine/herbal remedies for a watershed organization and a queer outdoors organization I am on the boards of, for a community forest group, through skillshare gatherings, and for CADL. This winter I will begin teaching through the Michigan Folk School. I have a website which further outlines my education and work experience and some of my offerings from writing to wildlife tracking to supporting livestock farmers to coexist with native carnivores (beacanhollow.gracenovie.com<http://beacanhollow.gracenovie.com/>). It was fulfilling to give a presentation and have an interactive table at CADL on wildlife tracking this summer and I'd love to offer this at other libraries in Michigan.
