The National Medal is the nation’s highest honor given to museums and libraries for service to the community. In its 20th anniversary year, the medals program celebrates excellent institutions that have made a significant impact on individuals, families, and communities across the nation. The award will be presented by First Lady Michelle Obama at the White House on May 8. Technology & Trends Workshop: Jump-roping with the Standards Bearers

Registration for MLA Technologies & Trends 2014 is still open--get the "early bird" rate until May 9! MLA's 2014 Technology & Trends workshop will highlight new and useful library technologies in breakout sessions on a variety of topics. Whether you work in a public, academic, school or special library, you will learn practical applications of technology to aid you in your library work. The MLA workgroup has put together a comprehensive schedule, including a session called "Jump-roping with the Standards Bearers: Using technology to assess authentic learning and applied mastery." Participants in this session will have the opportunity to evaluate the effectiveness of standards-based grading apps, such as Jumprope, to assess media literacy.
