DVD Cases/Displays
by Mary Cornell 19 Jan '15

19 Jan '15

Hello all, We are looking to change how we handle our DVD cases and displaying them. We currently have all our DVDs in their cases behind the circulation desk and sleeves with a DVD case sleeve out in a display. We are looking to put out the cases minus the DVD and have the DVD's behind the desk in some sort of individual sleeves. Does anyone handle their DVD's similarly? Could you offer some recommendations of cases/sleeves that you use? Or how you handle the display in general? Thanks, Mary Cornell Mary Cornell Technical Services Supervisor Maud Preston Palenske Memorial Library 500 Market Street St. Joseph, MI 49085 (269) 983-7167 www.stjoseph.lib.mi.us<http://www.stjoseph.lib.mi.us>

BedTime Math
by Andy Schuck 19 Jan '15

19 Jan '15

We're thinking about implementing the BedTime Math program this summer at our library. It looks like a lot of fun and a worthwhile investment of our time (one of our Associates taught elementary math in the past, tho all of our Youth staff are pretty excited). I was hoping to hear responses from other libraries who've tried it, specifically how you treated the 8 week timetable and getting kids to come to each one. It doesn't sound like every week builds on the next, though many do. How much of an issue is it if kids miss 1 week? I was also curious to hear if any libraries implement this during the school year and how often. Please feel free to respond to me off list. Thank you in advance for your time, Andy ------------ Andy Schuck Head of Youth Services William P. FW: MI Library Card
by Shirley Roos 19 Jan '15

19 Jan '15

Hello, libraries are telling our patrons their cards will expire so I thought I would try and clear this up. Shirley Roos From: turgeont(a)libcoop.net [mailto:turgeont@libcoop.net] Sent: Thursday, January 08, 2015 3:48 PM To: Shirley Roos Subject: Re: MI Library Card Hi Shirley! I'm not sure who told them that their cards expire, but no, they do not have to renew. The program is ongoing. We update the list of participants quarterly and if your library wants to stay on, then you don't have to do anything. Supplemental Sick Leave Banks?
by Andrea Estelle 19 Jan '15

19 Jan '15

Good Morning Everyone, My library board is interested in looking at policies for supplemental sick leave banks (which employees can contribute sick leave hours to when they have maxed out their sick time or as they wish to). Does anyone currently offer such a sick leave bank and can you send me your policy/procedure of how it is implemented? I know when I was at Kent District Library they did have one - not sure if it is still in existence? Thanks!
