This jumped out at me from the report: As a group, Millennials are as likely as older adults to have used a library in the past 12 months, and more likely to have used a library website. Hi, Putting together some information for library board about interesting adult programming and hoping to share with them some specific Michigan examples of how library are doing outreach to adults in bars. If you could share with me any programs you are doing at bars or other off-site locations for adults that would be great. Also, if you are doing any program that includes alcohol. Wayne State's Hermina Anghelescu Honored by Moldovan Government

The Government of the Republic of Moldova awarded Dr. Hermina G.B. Anghelescu, Associate Professor at the School of Library and Information Science, Wayne State University, with the First Rank Distinction, one of the highest distinctions in the country, for her longstanding activity in librarianship and for her continuing and sustained support of Moldovan libraries. Anghelescu first visited Moldova in 2001, under the auspices of the US Department of State, International Information Program . She has returned to Chişinău, the capital city, and to other towns several times and she has remained involved with library activities throughout Moldova. As a consultant to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Anghelescu supported Moldova’s cause to receive a multi-year eleven million USD grant that will lead to the modernization of public library services, implementation of new information and communication technologies in some 1,000 public libraries, and public librarians’ training. In addition, Hermina Anghelescu was appointed to be a member of Moldova’s National Library Commission. The award ceremony took place at the Republic of Moldova’s Embassy in Bucharest, Romania, in the presence of Moldova’s Deputy Minister of Culture, Igor Sarov, and Moldova’s Ambassador, Iurie Reniţă. The Oakland County Research Library is seeking a library and information science student or recent graduate to assist with the digitization and indexing of its historic county government documents collection. The collection will be made available to the public through the Oakland County Historical Resources Consortium's website. The goals of this project are to: . Make Oakland County's government documents collection more accessible to the public for research purposes . Promote greater governmental transparency . Preserve the historic government documents collection Duties: . Prepare materials for scanning . Scan materials into digital formats . Upload scanned files into the digital repository used by the consortium . Record descriptive, technical, and structural metadata in the Archival Ware database accurately and with a high attention to detail . Submit files for quality control review and makes changes as directed Qualifications: . Bachelor's degree . High level of computer literacy . Willingness to learn new software and technologies . Working knowledge of digitization projects and scanning equipment preferred . Knowledge of Adobe Acrobat desired . Ability to consistently meet deadlines as assigned . High attention to detail and accuracy . Ability to work independently with minimal direction and as part of a supervised team . Excellent Written and Oral Communication Skills Length: Temporary; funded for 25 weeks.
