Children’s Librarian-Permanent Part-time Vicksburg District Library is looking for someone who likes to work with children. Who has worked with the public, has good communication skills, knows children’s literature, is creative, and has experience planning programs. Candidate needs to be computer literate, a team player and able to go out to schools and represent the library in the community. This position is approximately 30 hours/week, with paid vacation after one year service. Minimum requirements are BA in children's education, MLS in children's services is preferred. tahquamenon area library fundraising

Hello, I wanted to share one of our fund raising efforts towards air conditioning the library. I will be returning to the Winter Death Race in Pittsfield, VT and am asking for pledges per each hour that I survive the race. Librarians know how essential the E-rate program has been and will be to meeting their communities' needs for high-speed broadband internet access and online services, critical in the 21st century. That's why ALA fought hard to create the program and, for the past 18 months, to encourage the Federal Communications Commission to dramatically increase the program's funding and streamline the application procedures. Libraries did it! Starting in 2015, an additional $1.5 billion will be available to libraries across the country, to be used to further narrow and ultimately close the digital divide...and those funds will be easier to apply for. No legislation from Congress is needed for the FCC's E-rate order to go into effect. In an era of tight budgets, however, Congress has the means to undermine the momentum of the order. We did it! We're a district!

We just received official word that our District Library Agreement was approved, effective December 31, 2014! We formed the district with the City of Morenci and the remaining area of Morenci Area Schools that was not already part of a district library. Many thanks to the many people in the library community who answered countless questions over the past months. If I can be of help to anyone contemplating this process, please don't hesitate to ask.
