Correction! Sick, Vacation, or PTO Bank?
by Stanczak, Cindy 22 Sep '16

22 Sep '16

I've been informed that it's usually a *sick leave* bank that employers have, not vacation leave bank. Do you have a leave bank of either type? Specifically, I mean a bank of unused sick leave, vacation, or PTO hours that staffers can donate to, that can be used by other employees in specific or crisis circumstances (temporary disability, grief leave, FMLA, etc.) If you do have a leave bank, would you be willing to share your policies and procedures on it's use and how you administer it? If anyone else is interested, I'll be happy to share any responses I get. Just let me know that you're interested. Sorry for the confusion! Vacation Bank?
by Stanczak, Cindy 21 Sep '16

21 Sep '16

Hello, all! Are there any district libraries out there using a vacation bank? By that, I mean a bank of unused vacation hours that staffers can donate to, that can be used by other employees in specific or crisis circumstances (temporary disability, grief leave, FMLA, etc.) If you do have a vacation bank, would you be willing to share your policies and procedures on it's use and how you administer it? Library Card Recommendation
by Shauna Swantek 21 Sep '16

21 Sep '16

We have very old-school library cards but are planning on an upgrade. We'd like something that comes with a wallet option and a key ring option. Do you use something you love? Please share your vendor/style and any notes to the wise.(Perhaps you have something you don't love and could warn me against it? Also valuable information.) Please email me directly; let's not slam the listserv. Thanks! Additinal information on Tax Capture Legislation
by Membiela, Clare (MDE) 21 Sep '16

21 Sep '16

Hello Everyone! I wanted to clarify the News information I sent on the pending Michigan Legislation on transparency for Tax Capture entities. I want to be sure that readers don't confuse the legislation in the story today with the longstanding legislation SB 579 and SB 619-624. SB 579 and SB 619-624 are the bills that will provide the opt out provisions for Libraries. The bill discussed in the story this morning, SB 1026, while interesting from a FOIA perspective, is only a bill that will provide some transparency - it is NOT related to the far more important and library-related SB 579 and SB 619-624. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions! Additional information on these bills and others is also available at the MLA website</%20http:/www.milibraries.org/>, as well as http://www.milibraries.org/mla-advocacy---july-28-2016 , as well as the Legislature's site SB 579<http://legislature.mi.gov/doc.aspx?2015-SB-0579>, SB 619-624<http://legislature.mi.gov/doc.aspx?2015-SB-0624> Have a great Day!
