Do any of you follow a practice where you allow kids to keep their library cards on file in a rolodex (or drawer or box, etc) at the library? Rural Public Library children's book grants

FYI for rural libraries looking to increase their children's collections. From the Library Grants blog. ____________________________ Deadline: March 1, May 1, and October 1, 2016 The Pilcrow Foundation, a national non-profit public charity, provides a 2-to-1 match to rural public libraries that receive a grant through its Children's Book Project and raise $200-$400 through local sponsors for the purchase of up to $1200 worth (at retail value) of new, quality, hardcover children's books. Announcing Debut of Newly Redesigned Business Gateway in the Michigan eLibrary!!

The Library of Michigan is pleased to announce that MeL's new Business Gateway, http://mel.org/business has debuted today. The gateway has been totally redesigned to better assist librarians and business services consultants who work with business owners and entrepreneurs as well as those who want to start a business and work with the resources on their own and on their own time. The new gateway incorporates a series of 4 videos in which librarians, business services consultants and actual entrepreneurs talk about how using MeL's business eResources helps them to Start. Grow. Support. Succeed. MeL's subscription eResources-available at no cost to all Michigan residents-are showcased on the gateway homepage along with targeted websites, selected business support organizations, and a Twitter feed from business support organizations. This makes for an excellent launch pad for contributing to economic development in your area. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our "on screen talent" who appeared in the videos-librarians, business services consultants and actual entrepreneurs-all who have used MeL resources either themselves or in assisting entrepreneurs and business owners in their communities. Circulation limits and family fee limits

Hello Librarians, We are looking at our Circulation Policy and were wondering what other libraries have for the number of items that can be checked out and if there were any libraries that have limits on family members when someone in the same household has an outstanding overdue fee/lost charges? Services to Refugees?

Hello All, Our community will be welcoming a large (for us) number of refugee families over the next several months, mainly from Syria with a few Congolese families as well. This is relatively new for us, and I am hoping that some of you in the Michigan library world who have more experience serving refugee and immigrant families will be willing to share what type of services/programs you offer or would like to offer to support these families, or any other tips, ideas, or experiences that could be helpful to us.
