There is a delay on shipping of the Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP) manuals out nationally, so it may be a few more weeks before you receive the printed Demco catalogs, and the manuals on USBs with digital download codes. However, please do not forget to login into www.cslpreads.org<http://www.cslpreads.org> for access to the Demco shopping site<http://shopcslp.com/>, logos, summer reading resources, etc. Any Demco orders placed by December 1st will be received by March 1, 2017. The trademarked 2017 Program Logos are now available on the CSLP website under Proprietary Downloads. You may begin to use these images on your promotional materials. The grant program is designed to provide Michigan libraries with the opportunity to develop innovative programs or services that have the potential to develop into sustainable regional or statewide programs, and include strong partnerships between libraries, and/or community groups or agencies. Applicants may propose a library program or service in any content area appropriate for library services, such as: * To develop an innovative service or program to meet a newly identified community need; * To meet the increased community demand for a service or resource; * To improve or develop new services to target populations, such as people from diverse geographic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds; individuals with disabilities; and individuals with limited functional literacy, limited English proficiency or limited information literacy skills. The grant program is competitive. The grant period will be from one to three years and funding will be for $50,000 to $225,000 per year up to a possible total of $500,000 over three years. Applications will be reviewed by the Library of Michigan staff and the LSTA Advisory Council as peer reviewers. No more than ONE to THREE grants will be approved. Eligible applicants include Michigan public, academic, school and special libraries as well as non-profit statewide organizations that serve Michigan libraries. SALARY: $13.72/ per hour Pro-rated vacation, sick-time REPORTS TO: Network Manager DESCRIPTION: Assist public and staff with use of library-owned and public-owned technology and printing. Provide public and staff support with software including Microsoft Office, Google Docs, Adobe, Windows, Android, and Apple. Support public use of library e-resources. Audio visual support, for meeting and group study rooms. Assist in hardware replacement and software upgrades. Maintain, clean and supply technology equipment. Teach or assist in the teaching of technology classes. Assist patrons in using 3D printers. REQUIREMENTS: HS Diploma or equivalent. Two year technical degree or equivalent experience preferred. Familiarity with Windows 7 – 10, and Android devices required. Apple experience preferred. Skills and motivation to support future consumer technology. Public service or Library experience preferred. MI-ALA 2017 Annual Conference: Call for Proposals Making Connections: Academic Libraries, Communities, and Purpose May 18-19, 2017 Eberhard Center at Grand Valley State University Grand Rapids, MI MI-ALA invites you and your colleagues to submit presentation proposals for the second annual conference to be held May 18-19 in Grand Rapids. Please consider sharing your innovations, creative endeavors, and practical solutions in librarianship.
