2017-18 Great Michigan Read The Michigan Humanities Council is pleased to announce the 2017-18 Great Michigan Read-X: A Novel by Ilyasah Shabazz and Kekla Magoon. X: A Novel recounts Malcolm X's formative years in mid-Michigan and how his experiences, both good and bad, shaped him into one of the most influential leaders of the twentieth century. Programming will run from August 2017 through May 2018. Partner libraries are eligible to receive reader's guides, teacher's guides, bookmarks, posters, and up to thirty copies of the book. The Michigan Innovative Users Group (MIUG) Steering Committee is accepting proposals for the 2017 MIUG Conference, to be held at the Lansing Community College West Campus on Friday July 28, 2017. We invite you to share your expertise, tips and tricks in any of the modules of Sierra, Millennium, or Polaris. The Steering Committee is looking for presentations that will last about 50 minutes, with a portion of that time set aside for Q&A. We are also open to forum ideas where an expert, or panel of experts, discuss a topic with an audience. Poster sessions are also welcome. In addition, if you are presenting at the IUG Conference in April, please consider presenting at MIUG. Content and condition The titles listed on the 'new' sheet are extra copies of fiction and non-fiction (hard and soft cover) books submitted to the Michigan Notable Books program over the last year and either contain Michigan content and/or were written by a Michigan author. The 'used' tab contains paperbacks that were received as used donations and are not needed in our collections (they have no library stamps/labels).
