Urban Explorer-Photographer program

Last night Brandon Library hosted a fresh perspective on the city of Detroit, and it was very well-received by our enthusiastic audience of 24. The program was presented by urban explorer and photographer Robert Huston, who, as @detroitunseen on Instagram, has over 5700 followers. Robert is a passionate advocate of documenting Detroit’s abandoned architectural history and rebirth. The program is 1.5 hours and he charges $200 (plus mileage if in wide-flung areas of the state). Reading material for dementia patients

I have a patron who is asking for help in identifying reading material that is appropriate to a person with dementia, the elderly of course. Some of the criteria might be: simple language not too long subject matter like animals, mysteries which are not gory, love stories Am looking for help from my peers about how, where to search for recommendations along these lines. This newly designed position will manage all of our electronic resources, from ebooks to databases. The position will also work on collaborative projects both in the library and with other departments on campus to provide superior services for our students, faculty and staff. This position is responsible for keeping abreast of emerging trends in content delivery and pricing models. This position works closely with other librarians on collection development for electronic books and serials to ensure a collection that meets the needs of the curriculum at the college. This position works closely with the Acquisitions Librarian to provide timely payment for all electronic books and serials. The Electronic Resources Librarian provides recommendations to the Library Director in the acquisition of new database subscriptions and assists in price negotiations with vendors. This position maintains statistics on the use of electronic resources and provides acquisitions reports on a regularly scheduled basis.
