If you haven't had the chance to check it out yet, the Library of Michigan has a Library Science collection that serves all librarians and library types. You can find information on managing computers in libraries, supervising staff or volunteers, developing your library collection, managing digital collections, doing Storytimes, fundraising to enhance your budget, facilities management, serving special populations of patrons, standards for school libraries, etc. Some new titles are: * Early learning through play : library programming for diverse communities<http://magic.msu.edu/record=b13113185> / Kristin Grabarek and Mary R. Lanni * Leading from the library : help your school community thrive in the digital age<http://magic.msu.edu/record=b13113322> / Shannon McClintock Miller and William Bass * Librarian's guide to writing for professional publication<http://magic.msu.edu/record=b12857924> / Marta Mestrovic Deyrup. Anyone can borrow the materials through MeLCat or interlibrary loan. To find items, search the Library of Michigan's catalog, ANSWER,<http://35.8.7.98/search~S37> by topic, or browse the Library Science Collection<https://codeprod.lib.msu.edu/list/lom1.php?mode=PU>. If you don't find what you need, feel free to suggest a purchase to me. Use the collection to improve your services and learn new ideas. Pass the word about it to your colleagues! Flash Poll for SRP 2023 Theme
by Lancaster, Cathy (MDE) 18 Sep '19

18 Sep '19

Due to CSLP meeting schedule this form is open for today ONLY! (9/18/19) Cathy Lancaster from Library of Michigan is at CSLP's Annual Meeting<http://www.cslpreads.org/>, along with Dickinson County Library's Emily Cummings. We've narrowed down the 2023 theme options to the 3 noted on the poll, please vote for 1! Remember, slogan suggestions that narrow down 2023 will be gathered & voted on in 2020, so this is just for broader theme ideas! For example, 2019's theme was "Space" and later we voted on "A Universe of Stories" for a specific slogan. In the end CSLP members from across the country will have input, so make your voices heard, Michigan! Art work in 2023 will be done by illustrator Frank Morrison<https://morrisongraphics.com/collections>. Friends speakers
by Rebecca Higgerson 17 Sep '19

17 Sep '19

Hello everyone! I’m working on the Friends of Michigan Libraries Workshop for March 2020 and was wondering if you have a dynamic Friends President/Board Member who would be interested in speaking to a very engaged Friends audience; or maybe you have heard a dynamic Friends presentation! We haven’t settled on a solid theme yet, so I thought it might be worthwhile to see if any of you have recommendations that you can send my way. Please feel free to share this post widely. The workshop will be held at the Portage District Library. Thanks in advance!! *Rebecca Higgerson* Director Brandon Twp Public Library 304 South Street Ortonville MI 48462 248-627-1474 *ENGAGE **•** EDUCATE **•** ENRICH **•** EMPOWER*
